Health Insurance and Life Insurance Denials

As promised I sought help from the National Leaders here at Obesity Help in reference to a post last week about an insurance denial. I have discovered that it is not an unusual practice for an insurance company to issue denials in the provision of health and/or life insurance both pre- and post op -- even to those who are three or more years out with great health. Another leader did suggest that one could check out and/or get advice from Obesity Law dot com. I checked their web site out. Perhaps you could drop a note to them to speak to your situation. Perhaps they could advise. It would appear that "WE" need to begin and/or continue to advocate for our rights --- as it was put to me from the leader board --- Insurance companies should not be able to continue to discriminate and get away with it . They are not allowed when people have other serious health issues. Besides now -- we have become healthier -- getting rid of most and/or all of our co-morbidities -- because of our choice to have gastri-bypass surgery. I am sure it is a complicated issue ---- I do not know the politics -- but perhaps we should all learn and become our own advocates. This is outrageous. I hope that this helps the person who posed the question on the board. Bottom line is that you are not alone and something needs to be done about this!!!!! But I suspect it is politically HOT TOPIC. This insurance concern reminds me that I can not ever lose my job ------ Good Luck Debra Aquaowo
