One Month Today!!
Hello all, just checking in I have been gone for awhile and today is my one month anniversary. I am down 42 pounds as of this morning and I am finally starting to feel pretty good, the first few weeks were pretty difficult. I start solids on Monday, the food and fluids have been pretty hard for me but I am trying my best. Even though I have not been released to return to work the Doc did ok for me to return to Curves and do some walking just no tummy or ab exercises, so I have been exercising 3 times a week and walking every other day, I feel great!! Taste has really changed things just gross me out like jello and pudding :>) Hope all of you had happy holidays and also have a happy and healthy New Year!!
Stephanie
Hey Stephanie -
I've been wondering how you made out. Glad to hear everything is going relatively well. I agree, I think the first couple weeks, like all 6 of them, are the worst. Trust me, it does get easier!!!
Try, try, try to get those fluids in - although that gets easier, too. My tastes and sense of smell changed after surgery, too. It's all kind of trial and error. What tastes/smells great now may not in a week or so. I've never had anyone able to explain it, so you might want to keep a journal of what bothers your pouch, etc. I have a hard time with jello, pudding, etc., too - ICK! I think it's a texture thing for me.
Again, just hang in there - chew really well, you don't want to experience stuck food!!!
Keep up the good work - 42 pounds is great!!! Let me know if you need anything!
Happy New Year and New Steph!!!

Hi Stephanie,
I am glad that you are doing well. Those first few weeks are tough, but it just gets better & better. It is weird how taste changes. I wasn't prepared for that. It's especially bad if you have protein drinks and such that you try before surgery and then afterwards you can't stand the taste of them. I even had problems with water the first few months! I had to drink only one kind of water and it had to be ice cold before I could tolerate it. Things will get back to pretty much normal in time. I can now drink any kind of water, even tap water if necessary.
Keep up the good work. WOW 42 lbs! That's fantastic!
Hugs, Robin
