You are doing well. Take it slow. Your pouch needs to learn and heal. Sip slowly. Don't worry about quantity. A few spoonfuls of soup or jello were all I could handle initially. Keep up the great work. Aime

Teresa, sounds as if your doing great. Take it easy, baby your new pouch. The tides will turn and you'll be greatful that you learned to listen to the signals that your body now sends you. We had the signals before, but they were lost in all the emotional commotion. Keep up the good work. TraciL

Hi Teresa, I'll second what Aime and Traci have already said. It sounds like you are on track. Try not to be so hard on yourself as far as eating/pain. Your insides are still healing and you may have a feeling of discomfort for a few more weeks. I didn't have a "real" appetite until I was about 9-10 months out. It was great! When the appetite does come back, it creates new challenges for us The really great thing is that when it does come back, we've got our tool in place and we can't overeat the way we used to. Keep us posted (no pun intended). Take Care, Terry

Teresa - I'll echo all the great advice you already got. Be kind to yourself and to your pouch. Your body is recovering from a major trauma, and it's saying, "WTH???!!!" Trust me, it DOES get easier. The first 6 weeks or so are the toughest. Don't obsess with the scale - it's one of the quickest ways to drive yourself nuts!!!!! My first OH friend told me I should only weigh myself once a week, usually on the same day I had surgery. Try that and see if it helps. Also, don't be scared if you see it creep up - water, salt, TOM - they all factor in. Again, everything seems to be designed to make us crazy, but I promise, it's all normal. Maximize this time, it won't come again!!!! Again, just be compliant with your doc/nut's orders, and everything will fall into place. Post away if you need us! Tia
