I am bummed out
They called today from the drs office and side I need to have proof of a 6 month study of dr supervised weight loss effort before they will even sumit the papers to the insurance co. I have been throught the diet pills but that wasn't in the last 2 yrs. I have taken them off and on but not continuiously. I guess this is just not ment to be...
Dont give up Shirley.. Lemme tell you how I got thru that part.. I went to my nutrionist for 6 months.. She supervised my weight loss.. and gave me the dietary lectures as well.. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone.. You are gonna have to a nutrionist anyway, might as well get a perk out of it..
No worries hun.. Just gonna take alittle longer thats all!!
Keep your head up!

My primary care doctor wrote a brief letter stating I have been her patient for x # of years and that we have approached many weight loss strategies and that she was currently recommending the weight loss surgery. She also put my weight ranges in the letter aling with my many comorbidities at that time whi*****luded hypertension, GERD, arthritis. I didn't think the letter was detailed enough- it didn't say we met monthly- because we didn't. I probably had an appointment with her once every 90 days just to get Rx refills. Well, this basic letter worked and I was approved for WLS. It's worth a try- especially if you have been seeing a primary care physician for at least six months---mine I have been going to probably 10 years.
Best Wishes

Good Morning Shirley
Please don't let this get you down. Many people on here are having to do this. My first Insurance company was going to make me do it and My primary doc wrote a letter stating everything I have done but them my insurance changed. But I agree with the other post. Talk to your primary doc and see what they can do. It will all come together. This is meant to happen. Everyone has there surgery when it is meant for them and your day is coming. Best wishes and keep us posted. Oh and I have also heard some don't make you do it for a whole 6 months. So that can be a bright side.
Take care
Kelly
Hi Shirley,
I was a bit bummed too when I learned I had to do a 6 month supervised visit. Well i was so pleased to find out that my insurance accepts my surgeons weight loss supervised visit for 3 months instead of six. It was like hitting the jackpot when Dr. Von Rueden's Staff told me I only had to do 3 months.
So just like the other ladies said you can have the dr draft up a letter for the insurance company or see if your insurance will accept 3 months with your dr instead of 6.
Good luck and do not give up. When you want something that you need really bad it never comes easy.
Hugs,
Cira
Dont get bummed out just do what they want you to do. But make the ins company pay a price as well. Ask them for advise, keep calling and asking if they pay for this or that like fitiness clubs call many times aday, will they pay for doctor visit cause you need to be checked regularly being on diet. they want you to give up and drop the whole issue. Simple you pay monthly bill for ins. make them tell you all the things you can have help with. call them if you dont understand something over and over again. the loudest wheel gets oiled first. don't give up the trouble is well worth it
