OMG!! HELP!!! CPAP machine needed!!
Hey guys..
OK, I have just entered crisis mode.. My surgery is next friday and I was just told yesterday that I needed to bring a CPAP machine to the hospital with me.. I dont have one!! So all day I've been scrambling around trying to find one to buy with insurance coverage and I thought I lucked out, but they wont be able to accomodate me by next week! So I am back at square one... Does anyone know where one can be found at a reasonable price? I hate to spend so much money for something I am not gonna be using for long but if thats what I need for my WLS, I've invested too much to stop now.. Any suggestions?
Ask your surgeon about this. I brought mine and he didn't want me to use it. It was a waste of time. The reason being that the forced air could cause the pouch to stretch. Don't stress it. Why would they ask you to bring a CPAP if you don't have one?
If the doc really wants you to have one, I have an extra. It is an older one, but you are welcome to it. You will need to get the tubing and headgear.

Thanks for your offer Aime.. I ended up calling the people Jacqueline mentioned before I saw your post. Trust me, I would much rather not spend all this dough after christmas for a machine I am using maybe 3 times but they asked me at the docs office did I have one and not to forget to bring it. Thats why it became a mad scramble to find one before next week. Its a good thing they said something because I would have shown up expecting the hospital to have one and ended up with a big Scooby Doo RUH ROH look on my face..
It seems the stars arent aligned for me to have this surgery this week and I am fighting them tooth and nail.. I didnt lose the weight (I ended up gaining) they wanted me to pre-surgery so the doc says well if your liver is too big, we arent going to go to open RNY, we are gonna sew you up and wait for you to get lose weight. THen Cardiologist didnt actually write on his results that I was cleared for surgery, so when I called him on it, hes like well its been over a year, i need you to come back in and get re-evaluated on tuesday.. I am like DUDE! my surgery is FRIDAY!!! Then this whole CPAP mess.. I am losing my gusto here.. maybe I should just cancel and get all affairs in order first before something else goes wrong.
The people in the doctor's office are the one's that told me to bring my machine- both times I had a procedure. You need to ask the surgeon. Mine never came out of the bag both times.
I also had the last minute crap to do. My pcp doc had to convince the surgeon that i didn't need another stress test. Luckily, he did. But I did have to get a repeat CT scan because of a nodule found in my kidney.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Did evertything work out for you regarding the CPAP machine and confirming your sergery for Jan 5th? I will be praying for you that God works everything out for you in this area. If you haven't purchased a CPAP yet, I have one and you can use it for free. You live very close to me so we can meet up tomorrow if you like. I am on home on vaction so it won't be a problem meeting up with you. Send me an email at [email protected] if you still need the machine.
