I am going to Dr. Roe on the 29dec. Does anyone know if BC/BS HMO will give me a hard time about approving me. I have just that fear. That they wont approve me. Bonnie

That is hard to respond to without knowing more specifics about you. Talk to the financial person in the office there. She should be able to help you understand the requirements of your insurance. Aime

Bonnie -- Dr. Roe's office will work hard for you to get insurance approval. There is nothing to fear. Just hang tough and hang tight. You are in EXCELLENT hands. Debra Aquaowo

i WENT TO SEE DR ROE TODAY. HE IS GREAT. HE MADE ME FEEL AT EASE. I MAY HAVE TO DO A 6 MONTH SUPERVISED DIET PLAN BEFORE I GET APPROVED FOR SURGERY. JUST ANOTHER DELAY. HE WILL LET ME KNOW IN A FEW WEEKS. BONNIE

Thank you for that. I am worried over open RNY. My friend had laprascopic. How long does recovery really take? I am excited to move on with a better life. But also scared. Of course scaring is worse. But I'm not worried about that. Thanks for listening Bonnie

Haven't you been to the powerpoint presentation?? Dr. Roe's open in a tiny 3 in*****ision. Recovery is very quick . It is comperable to the recovery of having it done laproscopically. Let's be real, those with lap who choose to have plastic surgery to remove skin will be disappointed in the extensive nature of the scars for skin removal. So to me safety, expertise of the surgeon and long term care is far more important than how large or small my scar will be. I have been a satisfied patient of Dr. Roe for almost three years now. Although, there are many qualified surgeons - I am confiedent in Dr. Roe's skill, care and compassion to bring you not only through the surgery but through the total process of healing from the disease of obesity. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Perhaps we could meet at the next support group meeting. Debra Aquaowo

Thank you so much Debra. I am not worried about scaring at all. Its just recope time. I met Dr Roe last Febuary. He seemed awesome. He was up front and honest about all. the insurance I had would not cover the surgery. I now have a new job, which will cover the surgery. So needless to say, I'M BACK. JUst getting nervous and excited at the same time. Hopefully my insurance approves me!!! Thanks again. Bonnie

My SO has BC BS HMO and he works at a company with less than 50 employees- they do not cover bariatric surgery categorically. But I understand Maryland has a law if the company employees more than 50 staff- it must be covered. Good luck. Keep us posted on your approval process. Karen
