what is the name of the protein that is sold at walmart that I have read some members post that protein shake is pretty ok..... I want to buy it to just check it out. I know protein shakes can be very nasty and I really want to find one that I can handle after the surgery. Thank you for all your help! Cira

Hi Cira, It might be EAS Advantage. I think they have that at Walmart. I was buying the EAS powder in 6 pound containers at BJ's for about $25. BJ's now also has boxes of Designer Whey powder for about $15. I've switched to the Designer Whey powder. It's 'finer' and I think mixes better without a blender. I mix up my shake (with crushed ice) before I leave the office in just a container that I can shake it in, then I carry it with me to work. By the time I get to office, it's perfect. The instant coffee that I use for flavor has completely disolved as well as any of the protein powder. It's a good idea to try the shakes before your surgery. Also to get in the habit of drinking one to two a day to build up your body pre-surgery. It will do a lot for your recovery post surgery. Keep in mind though that your tastes may be different after surgery. I have seen many people say that they liked something BEFORE then couldn't stand it after. I personally did not have that experience with the protein shakes, but it does happen. My doctor is one who says 2 shakes per day for life, so I can't afford to be too 'picky' about my shakes!!! Hi Mo, Thank you so much for the information I really appreciate your help. I will definitely not go nuts buying what I think I will like. I will try and see what I can tolerate, then after surgery I will have a few to figure out I might like. Hugs, Cira

Cira, I like the Chocolate Body Fortress from Walmart. From what I have experienced you can't get away from the protein taste/smell, but some are better than others and BY ALL MEANS go for Chocolate rather than vanilla. The taste is SO much better IMHO. Heather

Thank you heather Chocolate is my favorite so I will definitely try it out the chocolate.. Never vanilla or strawberry! Yuck! But what if you get some frozen berries or strawberries and blend it together I wonder if that would be good? if you try it let me know if you like it. Thanks for your response. Hugs, Cira

Cira, Don and I like Pure Pro Shakes by ABB. We buy through Netrition on line www.netrition.com Stallone puddings are helpful too. We prefer the chocolate to Vanilla. Both the shakes and puddings can be found at GNC. You could try them and then order so they get shipped right to your house. Don is doing well but sick of full lliquids. He went back to work today. He can't see how anyone can go to back to work in less then a week even after LAp Band Surgery. When you eat very little you get very tired very quickly. Good luck. GNC has other protein shakes in cans and mixes. Personally I don't like the powders much. It is easier but more expensive to do prepared shake and take it along with you. We bought a Magic Bullet too to aid in pureeing and making shakes. Haven't used too much yet. Need to try the shake recipes given to us by Van Rueden's office.
