Good Morning, Stuff and My Biggest WOW Yet

Good Morning Everybody! How is everyone? Things are good with me, I've been busy, busy, busy. I know I've been missing in action here lately and I really miss posting here. I'm hoping after McMom's follow up surgery tomorrow things will settle down and get back to normal. Please keep her in your prayers...she's doing well, just is a little down with the complication she's had. I don't want to get too graphic, but she's had some skin necrosis and needs to have that taken care of. After reading Heather's post about her jeans, I just had to post about my WOW moment this morning. I have this one pair of jeans that McMom got for me back when I was a teenager (1978 to be exact..ok, stop your snickering there you young'ins...hehe). I was NEVER able to wear these jeans from the moment she got them for me. You may ask why I held onto them all these years. Well they're classic red tab, straight leg Levi's. For me these jeans were the holy grail of weightloss...I think we all have that one piece of clothing that we hold up as our symbol of success for weightloss because if we're able to wear it, that meant success? I tried the jeans on a few months ago and I managed to get them buttoned and zipped but they were a little too snug to wear. To be honest, I figured that I would never get to wear them because after PS, they're gonna be too big. So today, I'm getting ready for work and I have these jeans hanging where I can see them everyday as a reminder...so I thought "when the heck" and I put them on. Well guess who's sitting at work wearing her 28 year old Levi's? Hehe...so the scale hasn't moved since early July (other than to bounce back and forth plus or minus 5lbs) but I've obviously shifted something because these jeans fit better than they did a few months ago. This is a HUGE WOW moment for me (the biggest ever yet). I know I've lost weight (even though I still think I have a distorted view of my body), this is HUGE..to be wearing these jeans that were put away for so many years. In the few years before my WLS, I even considered getting rid of them because I felt I would never get into them. I was so down about that. I thought what a shame, I never even got to wear them...and now as I sit here wearing them with tears in my eyes, I am so happy because WLS made it possible for me to prove myself wrong. So if you're perusing this site and you come across this post and you wonder if WLS is for you...as I've said several times in the past few days "dreams do come true and the only regret I have about this surgery is that I didn't do it sooner". That being said, I am a firm believer that things happen when they're supposed to happen. Had I had this surgery sooner, I'm not sure that I would've been ready for it mentally. If you're considering surgery and you have doubts, post and ask questions. We're all in this together. We're all works in progress and together we can work toward healthy lives (yes, thinner is a nice benefit, but my goal has always been to be healther). I'm not sure when I'll get to post again this week with McMom's surgery tomorrow, but I'll try to get online soon. Have a Wonderful Day! Take Care, Terry

Hi Terry I love your jean story! I have a pair of cut-off jeans (at this point they are probably more like Daisy Dukes .. ) that evolved from a pair of jeans I bought in college (circa 1970) when I had lost some weight and could actually find a pair of jeans that would fit me. I've been in and out of them over the years, but I think I haven't worn them since 1989 at this point. My goal is to be able to wear them around the house next summer!!!! That being said, I have my assessment apponitment tonight at Big Vanilla .. so I am on my way! Will be thinking of McMom tomorrow. I'm sure she will be on her way back to normal soon! Hugs, Mo

Oh Terry! That is soooooooooooo wonderful! Brought tears to my eyes. I love these wow moments and that we share them with each other. I have a pair of jeans sitting in my closet. Wore them I think in the 8th grade.....they are acid wash so what does that tell you?? LOL One day I will be able to put them on, you are my inspiration that I will do that! Thanks so much for sharing! ~Heather

Hi Terry, am so happy for you. Even though my success isn't quite what you just realized, yesterday I went to Nordstrom to get just a few items to wear now and I had slid out of the Encore department. Just 7 weeks ago I was a 2X/3X and now in a smaller department. I liked your view on the thought of, "just wish I had done it sooner". Again, congratulations, Adrienne

Hey congrats Terry; I've had a similar wow moment, only my wow comes in the form of being able to wear the same size clothing as my 19 and 16 y/o sisters (both 12's). WOOHOO!! - Kelly
