OT: waaaay OT / childcare
Hi Marylanders . . . I am re-entering the workforce after several years of being a SAHM to two (now 6 and 8) and I am having problems locating an afterschool sitter. If you know of any teenager in the Arnold/Cape St Claire area who would like to work approx. 20 hours/week in my home overseeing general chaos . . . please let me know. I am getting desperate -- had to postpone my start date because I can't find anyone!!!
Thanks much,
BJ
Hey BJ,
Not sure if it would work for you, but how about the County's Child Care Program? Not sure what schools your kids are in .. I think there is a program at Windsor Farms, not sure where else down our way though. I think they do before and after school care. You can probably find the info on it on the County's website under Recreation and Parks or Child Care Program. ( www.aacounty.org )
Good luck finding a solution.
Hugs, Mo
I'd also check in with Maryland Committee for Children. They might have some resource information for you.

Thanks, Mo and Tia . . . I called the county and learned that the aftercare school program has a waiting list of 25 kids ugh!!! Then I called the two private daycares, they also have lists and the prices are out of reach too. My only hope at this point is a teenager. I'm posting a notice up at the high school and at AACC this afternoon.
I have been out of the workforce for several years, this is the final hurdle LOL! For years I thought I was getting passed by for job opportunities due to my weight. Now I'm finally thin and employable and can't find a darn sitter LOL.

I sympathize because it's hard finding trustworthy AFFORDABLE daycare. But I'm with MO, check out their schools. My niece and nephew go to before/after school daycare right their school. It's run by the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks, so you might have luck checking with your county's version of that.
Good luck,
Tia
