Hi Everybody! I know I've been kind of missing in action the past week or so. I've been taking care of my Mom and have not had much time to be online, in addition to having connection issues with my ISP. I think I finally got the connection issues resolved this evening and my Mom is on the mend. Mom is doing well (a slight set-back with healing that may require additional, minor, surgery, but not insurmountable). My Mom, she's a trooper! This Thanksgiving I'm thankful for God and the many blessings he's bestowed upon me. I'm thankful to still have my Mom. My Dad died when I was young and she's been both mother and father to us. My Mom is my best friend. She's a positive person and she's so caring...in short, a terrific mother. Someone I would hold up as a model of what a mother should be. I love her so much and I'm so thankful to still have her for another Thanksgiving. I'm also thankful for my Sister, she's also my best friend. We are close (22 months apart) in age and in everything. We are alike and yet different. We respect each other's differences and encourage and support each other. I'm thankful for WLS. I just can't say enough positive things. So far I've had a complication free WLS journey and I realize that something could pop up at any time. Would I trade this? Losing 129lbs in 11 months and being smaller than I was in high school? No Way!!! I've still got some more weight to lose and I've not given up (even though the scale has not moved in 5 months). I'm focusing on just being healthy and physically fit. I'm thankful that I am healthier and more physically fit than I was 15 months ago. I'm also off all medications for high blood pressure, asthma and Type 2 Diabetes. I'm thankful for the support of my friends and family. Not just with WLS but in all aspects of my life. Although I'm unhappily single, I am thankful that I now have the desire and confidence to want to have a relationship. Prior to WLS I didn't like myself (physically) and I figured if I didn't like myself how could I expect someone else to like me. I'm thankful for the support of my friends here on this board. You all make my day and make me accountable to myself. So on this holiday where we recount what we're thankful for, I just wanted to tell you all that I love you and cherish your friendship. For those that are traveling, I pray you have a wonderful time with your friends/family and I pray for your safe return home. For those of you not traveling, I pray you have a wonderful time with your friends/family locally. Just remember....protein, protein, protein and stay away from the carbs and sugar! hehe. Happy Thanksgiving! Terry

Terry, what a beautiful post and very heart felt. I could not sum it up better myself. We're thankful for lots of the same things. My wish for you this year is that by next year you can be thankful for a soul mate! Not that you need one, but I know that it would be nice. Wish I knew some single men! Glad to hear that you mom is doing well. Please continue to keep us updated. Whose doing the cooking today?? Is your mom able to travel or home bound? Mo, have a safe trip and I can't wait to hear about the lap around the track in the truck. Try to take pics! Everyone else, I'll second what Terry said. Please be safe in your travels and return home safely. Stay focused on the fact that food is NOT the point of this holiday. I'll be nibbling on turkey when I feel the need. Hoping to keep myself sidetracked by playing plenty of pool. Happy Thanksgiving!!! Watch the parade this AM if you can. That's our tradition. TraciL

Happy Tanksgiving to you too Terry- You couldnt have said it better. I am thankful for waking up each morning and being happy to get out of bed. I am thankful for the 103 pounds that left me in 4 1/2 months. For My husband who if it weren't for him my recovery would have been hard. My mom who is also my best friend and was my true inspiration to have this surgery. I know she wants to be a grandmother and loosing weight was the only way. I am thankful for the friends I have made on this board and those who can come to meetings every month for strengt and encouragment. And just to know you are not alone. I am thankful for everything that has happened this year to decideing to start my own daycare to hopefully starting a family next year (as long as docs say its ok of course) So as we pray tonight at dinner I will say a prayer for my wls friends and hope you all have a great Turkey day. Lots Of Love Kelly

Gobble!! Gobble!!! Terry, since you and I were separated at birth, I echo everything you said. Particularly about your Mom and sis, although in my case, it's my brother. Family is what it's all about, and I'm so grateful for my slightly nutty, sometimes dysfunctional, but always loving and supportive family. And of course, for my KB and Molly, that goes without saying!!! I'm thankful for all of you, too!!! This journey is so much easier with the love and support of my loser friends!!! We're heading to my aunt's at 1 for dinner - um, sorry, I won't stay away, but I will limit the carbs and sugar!!!! It just won't be what it's all about!!! Gotta run, got pies in the oven. Love and kisses to you, McMom & Cindy Lou Who!! Everyone else, safe travel, happy family day and be good to yourselves!!!!!! Tia
