I should have asked this question with my first post. I am 53 years old. Is there anyone in their 50's on these boards? Gail

I think you are just fine! I am 9 weeks out...DS in Sept., and will be 51 in Jan. Come on over to the OVER 50 forum. Darlene

Hi Gail I had my surgery at 54 (I will be 57 in February). There are several of us 'older' gals here on the Maryland board. Welcome to the group and please join in. Hugs, Mo

Mo there is no way you are almost 57. I am sorry but I just cannot believe that. You look so much younger.

I am not sure where my first post went. I signed in with another email address because I forgot that I registered a long time ago with this information. I guess I will wait to see if it appears.

Hi Gail, I am 55 and had my RNY on Sept. 15. You are certainly not too old! I think some of us are just starting to "get it" at 50 and older. lol. The Over 50 forum is also a good place to check into. Welcome and please keep in touch. Julie

Gail, I think I know more people in their 40s and 50s having WLS than younger!

I am 59 and had WLS 2 weeks ago, it might take us older girls a little longer to recover, but I don't think that your age has that much to do with it. The important thing is that you are healthy enough to have the surgery. When you have all your physicals and tests done, they will let you know. Truly, you can't think 53 is old? I know women in thier 60's who had the surgery and they are doing fine.
