lurker needs help
I had surgery 6/6/06 and did very well until this month. I'm going through the sandwich generation. My mom is living with my family for the last six weeks and it's been hard on me. She's also scheduled for surgery on 11/20/06. This month I only lost 2 pounds and am finding my self trying differ. foods and I know this isn't good. Awhile ago I read on the boards about a plateau diet. Does anyone know of one? Thanks for your help. I thought I'd be brave and finally post. Thanks for all of your help.
Hi Sally! Here's the link to Tooters Bariatricbyte's website - http://www.bariatricbytes.com
She's full of useful information. A article that might be of interest to you is - http://www.bariatricbytes.com/news7th.html
Best of luck with your WLS journey. Stay on track and keep a positive attitude (I know that's going to be rough with all you have going one). I'll keep you in my prayers/thoughts.

Hi Sally
Welcome to the board from lurker-land. It sounds like you are in a rough spot family/emotion-wise and I know that is a tough place to be when you are dealing with food issues. Try to focus on the instructions you have received from your doctor and/or nutritionist and get back on track. The link Traci posted for Tooter's website is a good one. Work on getting back to basics with your protein and be careful of the carbs. All carbs are not evil, but the white ones ARE !!!! Try to have dense protein that will fill you up and if need be supplement with protein drinks.
Best wishes on your WLS journey as it continues and keep posting here. We are all here to support each other.
Hugs, Mo
Sally, I'm glad you posted. We all need help from time to time and that is what this site is all about. I agree with the other information you have received. Don't be so hard on yourself. While you are trying different foods, just think of how far you have come. This time last year were you concerned at all about what you were eating? I know I wasn't I have opened myself up to different foods too but I always remind myself that I have to get in my protein and water first, then I can do the others. It's also added stress in your life to have other family living with you. Try to find time for yourself, kick up the exercise. Going for nice long walks should help both your stress levels and getting the weight coming off again.
Looking forward to hearing from you more often...
Hugs, robin
Hi Sally,
Everything folks have said I agree with..but...I am going to add another view...
You are approximately 5 months out...you SHOULD be adding in NEW foods...no, not high fat foods, but to get nutrition you need different types, textures and colors...
Also, not sure how much you have lost but it could be a case where you have lost so much weight your body is just trying to hang on to what it has...basically your body has been STARVING for 5 months...
So, focus on eating healthy...but don't get on yourself about incorporting new foods...you should be doing that....
Congrats to you on your success!!!! Try not to concentrate on the ONLY 2 lbs...think about how much weight you have lost over the past 5 months....
Best wishes...
