I thought I'd stop by and introduce myself. My name is Phyllis, I am 41 and live in Dundalk. I had open Rny on 11-7. I've been home for four days now and everything is going great so far. I'm having a problem getting my liquids in, but I hear that's normal for most. I thought about having this surgery for 2 years now, it took a long time and a lot of joint pain to finally convince me. I'd never had any kind of surgery before and was really nervous about it, but my family was there for me and it went easier than I imagined. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

Welcome Phyllis. I had RNY on 10/12. I had no problems after my surgery. I've been feeling great and LOSING. I found the sugar free popsicles a very helpful way for me to increase my liquids. They also allowed me the sense of chewing. Keep us posted. Aime

Hi Phyllis - Welcome!!!!! I'm glad to hear everything's going well. Yep, pushing fluids is a pretty tough chore initially - trust me, it does get easier. You might want to keep a journal of what you eat/drink for at least the first month, it helped me when I had to see my doctor to let him know how much I was getting in. I also kept a bottle of water near my bed, and because I wasn't sleeping full nights initially, I just sipped every time I woke up. It helped! We're so glad you joined us. Keep on the lookout for our get-togethers, and post if you need anything. BTW, where in Dundalk do you live? My brother's a letter carrier on the ABC streets in West Inverness, but frequently has overtime on other routes. Just wonderin.... Take care, Teresa (Tia)
