I am so excited!!
I went for my information session yesterday and I had a great time absorbing all the info. I loved both doctors and they were very nice and answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. They took all my paper work and told me they will contact me next week.
Well, just a little while ago I get a call from Sherry at DVR's office and she set me up for my consultation on Wednesday the 15th!! I also have my sleep study for that evening. I am so excited I just had to post it here.
I know it is not a surgery date but at least we have the ball rolling.
Thanks for listening.

Hey Cira -
That's great. I love DVR, don't know Dr. Moen, but he seems equally caring and capable. I spoke at an info session in September, and tried to cover everything, but there's always something you forget! So if you have any questions, post away!
Actually, the next support group meeting is on 11/15 and the theme is going to be holiday recipes, so if you can hang around from 6-7, I'd love to meet you!
Glad everything's rolling along, but be prepared - I like to think of it as a "Lack of Sleep Study!!!"
Tia
Hi Tia,
Thank you so much for your support. I will definitely ask questions!!
I wish I could stay to meet you. But I have the slee study that evening too and I have to go home and get my little one's settled before I leave to Laurel Regional Hospital.
But I am sure we will get to meet another time tho. I would to meet you too.
LOL I am sure I will probably not sleep at all with my luck they will have to get me rescheduled. he he he. I hope not because I don't want any road blocks.
I can a question for you. Where do they draw your blood gasses? On your wrist? if so man oh man that thing is painful. My Mom had to get those done often.
Anyway I am not going to let nothing stop me. lol
By the way I wanted to let you know that I read you had pink eye. I hope you are feeling better. Maybe I passed to you by cyber space?? lol sorry! Because I had it to and so did my 23 month old son. Now I think my 5 year old is getting it. ughhhh.
Take care
Cira
Hi Cira -
Sorry you won't get to stay for the meeting. But hopefully, we'll get together another time. I think their holiday party is December 6, and sorry, as much as I love you guys, I will be in NYC!!!!
Anyway, I had my sleep study done at Franklin Square Hospital - the staff was great, the room was great, all that was missing was the chocolate on my pillow. I didn't think I would sleep, either, especially once they got me hooked up to everything. It wasn't painful, not at all, just awkward. I slept, but not what I would consider restful sleep - actually, since the first was to determine if I did indeed have sleep apnea, I had to go back for the cpap titration, where you actually wear the mask, etc. Again, not painful, just a pain! But a necessary evil if I wanted the surgery!
Same with the blood gases - yep, on your wrist near the bone - yep, it hurts INTENSELY, but it was over quickly, and again, I'd have 10 of them done if it meant having the surgery.
The bottom line is, it's all a means to an end! You'll be fine!
My travelling pink eye is bye-bye, thanks for asking. I think fate just thought I didn't have enough going on in my life at the time!!! Hope the little ones get over it quickly - no fun for them (or you!)
Tia
Tia,
I hope to be able to make it to the christmas party on the 6th of Dec. It all depends if I have a sitter for the kids. Lucky you going to NYC. That is my home town. I am going the 3rd week of December.
As for the sleep apnea I hope one test is enough. Now tell me something why did you need 10 of the blood gasses done? Does everyine need ten? I was thinking that only one.
Glad you are feeling better. We are getting better thank goodness.
Have a great weekend.
Cira
Cira, honey, you made me think one or both of us was drinking when you asked why we had to have 10 blood gasses!!! I about fell over laughing, thinking, "OMG, what did I say to that poor girl??!!"
If you read it again, you'll see that I said, if I had to have 10 of them in order to have the surgery, I would!!!!! Sorry, all I meant was that it would've been worth it!!
Not to worry, there's only 1 blood gas, and maybe 2 sleep studies, depending upon what they find at the first one!
Sorry, but actually, you made me chuckle - at both of us!!!
Tia
