The vet called with the results from yesterday's blood work and Poncho's kidneys are about 75% shut down. We have decided to not try to prolong his suffering and will take him in to the vet to be put down when I get home at 5 today. I didn't expect to be quite so devastated by this, but I'm a mess. I called Mr Mo after I talked to the vet, and told him I thought we needed to do this. After thinking about it a bit more I realized there was no point in waiting until Friday. He's not going to get any better Thanks everyone for your support. I know this is very off topic but y'all are my best friends and support network. Hugs, Mo

I am so sorry to hear about Poncho and I know how difficult it is to have to put him down. If you are anything like me my animals (2 yorkies, 1 poodle) are my kids and a very big part of our family, as a matter of fact my one male yorkie is sick and we are taking him to the Vet tonight, and I have worried myself sick about him all day. I had to put down a 12 year old not to long ago and it was very hard but I must say very humane and very peaceful and he didn,t suffer at all. My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you go through this difficult ordeal. Stephanie

Thank you Steph. We just weren't able to do it last night. We just weren't ready to let go. Thank you for the thoughts. Hugs, Mo

Awww Mo, I'm so sorry to hear about Poncho. I know how much it hurts to put down a pet you love. I went through the same thing with my cat almost 9 years ago and it still hurts even now. Hugs, Terry

I wish you peace during this difficult time. Maybe this poem will help... Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
