Good Monday Morning Everybody!
Good Monday Morning Everybody!
How is everyone this morning? How was your weekend? How goes the eating, fluids, supplements, protein and exercise??? I'm doing good on all fronts, although I gotta fess up. I started my holiday baking on Saturday and I made pumpkin whoopie pies (not sugar free/low fat)...OMG!! My sister, who does not like pumpkin, ate 2 of them yesterday and took one for the road. They were so good!! Notice I said "they"...yes, I had a grand total of 5 of them between Saturday and last night. There is now one left and I held it up to my ear (pretending I heard something) last night in front of my Mom and said "what's that..oh yes, you want McMom to eat you...oh absolutely!!" We got a good laugh out of that one. I have to say..5 over the course of 2 days is not great, but prior to WLS, I bet I would've eaten at least 5 in one sitting. Other than my foray into the whoopie pies, eating and everything else is A-OK.
Friday, Tia and I were supposed to go to Germantown to meet up with a group of ladies from the singles board. Tia still had pinkeye (it had progressed to the other eye) and I had my own issues so neither of us got to go. Maybe next time (I hope).
Well it's shaping up to be a busy, busy day here so I'm going to get off here and get to work. I'll try to pop back in later on.
Have a Wonderful Day!
Terry
good morning Terry
Sorry to hear that Tia is still out of commission with the pink eye .. that is really a drag .. to have a week off and then be under the weather I know you had both been looking forward to the shindig in Germantown.
I'm sitting here at home doing the 'prep' thing. I took the 4 pills at 6 a.m. and mixed up the drink stuff at 7 ... I start actually drinking it at 8 a.m.
I left my desktop up at work on Friday, so I'm going to try to do some work to occupy myself this morning. I don't leave for the doctor until 12:30 so it's going to be a LONG hungry morning. I haven't eaten since dinner Saturday night, though I did drink a lot of liquids yesterday.
Was a pretty quiet weekend here. I stayed in Saturday with the exception of going out to dinner Sat night with Mr Mo and our friends Jeff & Wendy. Yesterday we dropped the blazer off to the body shop. Hopefully it won't take more than a week to get it back. In the mean time, Mr Mo will drive my truck today, then pull the Camaro out of the garage until he gets the blazer back. I wasn't in a rush to go back home once we got out, so we took a walk around Best Buy and then stopped by the Annapolis Mall. I am so not liking Macy's changing Hechts. I have a gift card that I'm trying to use and I am having trouble finding things I like at Macy's. I did find an Alfred Dunner petite blazer that was reduced enough that I was willing to get it. I still have $60 left on the card, so I guess I'll be back to Macy's again
Ok, I'm thinking I had better shower before I have to start drinking THAT stuff.
Have a wonderful day!
Hugs, Mo
GM Mo,
Sounds like you had a fun weekend I haven't talked to her since Friday afternoon, but I'm hoping Tia is doing better. I hope the "prep" isn't too bad this morning. I know that, that kind of thing is never enjoyable, but hopefully it'll be manageable. At least once it's over with this afternoon you can go home and take a nap/relax. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers today
Try to have a good one!
Terry
Thanks Terry!
I've had the first dose of the drink and it's not nearly as bad as the Fleet phospha stuff was but I wouldn't recommend it as a regular drink! It came with flavor packets and I elected to use the lemon lime one (there was a choice of Cherry Orange or L/L).
Our offices are closed for Election Day tomorrow, so I'll be able to take it easy tomorrow as well. I just have to get out and vote!
Uh oh, time to head for the next 8 oz drink!
Hugs, Mo
Good morning.
Mo, I hope that everything goes well today. I don't know what you have to drink but on Thursday the contrast stuff I had to drink was down right nasty. Had a really bitter taste. I gagged it down in an hour. Yuck. I'll be thinking of you today. Such a shame that you have to spend time in Macy's and shopping no less! Enjoy!
Hi Terry. I love those pumpkin whoopie pies! They are fabulous. What a hard temptation to overcome. You'll just have to do extra cardio this week. Sorry you didn't get to go to Germantown. Even sorrier for the reason why. Get better TIA!
I had a good weekend. I needed this weekend badly, after the week I had a work. It was torture! But it is over and just a faint nightmare, on to better and happier things. Meghan's b-day party was really nice. She had lots of fun and received nice gifts. She got a gift card to old-navy and one to the mall and some cash. She has bugged me eversince to take her shopping. Maybe tonight. Can we say "money burning a hole in her pockets!" They have school off today and tomorrow so they are enjoying a nice long weekend.
I went shopping again to Lane Bryant. I stopped in for bras and just happened ( yeah right) to find a pair of dress pants and a really pretty orange sweater. Guess what size??!! The pants are a 16!!! WooHoo! I haven't worn a 16 since my oldest daugher was 1 1/2. That's like 16 years ago. I am so excited. I just couldn't pass up the pants. I even tried on a 14 and they fit but were a bit snug for my taste (you could see my panty line). I nearly cried in the dressing room. I tried on clothes for almost an hour. It was fun. I only bought one outfit so I did restrain myself pretty well.
Sunday was church, nap and a trip to the commissary. A nice quiet day.
Hope your Monday is a fab one!
Hugs, Robin
Robin,
Congrats on the size 16!!!! I know it's a great feeling! I'm trying to restrain myself from buying new stuff until after New Years. I'm a sales hog AND my stuff isn't completely falling off .........YET! hehehe I'm just tickled I can wear jeans that I couldn't wear last year AND they are really loose!
GM Honeys -
Yup, I'm baaack!!! And fortunately, without pink eye!! That was the weirdest thing - neither my doc nor I can figure out how I got it. The last time I had it was because B came home from school with it and decided to share it with his Tia. This time, no one else had it, and the only thing we can surmise is that I picked it up "outside," say from a grocery cart, basket, etc. YIKES! Yet another reason to be religious about washing your hands! It really bites, because it messed up a lot for me - no Terry on Halloween, and I couldn't really give out candy because who wants pink-eye lollipops?! Also, I missed another dinner with another gf, and I missed the singles get-together on Friday in Germantown. I'm sure the singles must think I really don't exist, especially since I don't have an avatar pic. Guess I gotta work on that! Terry, I'm sorry that you didn't make it, either, hope everything's okay. I guess McMom's getting anxious; I'll be thinking of her and waiting for updates from you.
WOW! This board was hopping while I was away. I did try to log on twice during the week - gotta love dial-up - only to have it immediately log me off once and the second time, I just got the hour glass FOREVER, and finally had to shut down. High-speed internet is one of the only reasons to look forward to coming to work!!! Looks like we have a bunch of new people, so I'm gonna try to sum this up succinctly:
Welcome to all our new folks! We welcome questions, comments, jokes, pictures, recipes, etc.
To everyone who's struggling, I'm right there with ya!! No one said this was going to be easy, our doc's didn't operate on our brains, only our tummies! We all know what we have to do, but sometimes, that's the main struggle!
Congrats to everyone who's received a date! And to everyone who's lost or even maintained. Maintaining is a good thing! Better than gaining!!
To all new and potential DVR patients - he's the best. Initially, he seems shy and reserved, but once you get to know him, he's warm, friendly and caring. Once you're his patient, he takes an interest in you for life!!
Our get-together is still scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, 11/11 - first, Pennsylvania Dutch Farmer's Market on York Road in ****eysville, then on to Valley View Farms for our senses to be assaulted by Christmas, then on to Hunt Valley Towne Centre? for lunch, shopping, chatting, etc. All are welcome - pre, post, non-ops, husbands, wives, parents, significant others, children, etc. Can't wait to see/meet everyone in person.
As I previously said, my week off from work was kind of messed up thanks to my traveling pink eye. That being said, I did still manage to scrub down the kitchen floor, walls, cabinets, etc. The kitchen just gleamed! Or it did until Saturday, when we had KB and we started our Christmas baking. We made 5 batches of cookies - one oatmeal reason, 2 choccy chip and 2 sugar. Actually, K did most of the work, I just kind of supervised. My new mixer, lovingly referred to as "Lil Red," made things MUCH easier. I'm still struggling with the pouring shield - Terry, can you advise? Is it supposed to lock in or just sit on the rim? When I tried to use it, I ended up "pouring" flour down the side of the bowl! Ugh! Onto the clean floor! If it was something tasty, Molly would be right there, Hoovering it up, but not with flour!
On Sunday, Gary asked if we could watch KB for about an hour or so while he did some Christmas shopping. "Or so" turned into 4 hours! I was pretty peeved, but not at KB, they were good, we played Chutes and Ladders, cards and they played Twister, but I was extremely ticked at Gary for taking unfair advantage! I was tired, and just really wanted a day in my pj's. I did have a day in my pj's, but I was busy playing hostess. It's not gonna get any easier, either - we just found out that MOTY got a job at the Glen Burnie Post Office as a PTF (part-time flex), which basically means that she'll be at their beck and call. Just goes to prove that the PO is DESPERATE!!! Mo, tell Mr. Mo that I'm VERY disappointed in their standards. It wouldn't be bad if I thought she would use the extra $$$ to improve KB's quality of life with her, but that won't happen. It also means that instead of having KB every other Saturday, we'll have them EVERY Saturday. Now, you know I love them, but Mom and I need time for us, too. Dad said he'll help, but I already know the extent of his "help," so I know the burden will fall on us. There goes Mom & I ever being able to go away for a weekend of shopping. But I didn't like the alternative - MOTY said she'd find a daycare (yeah, because there are so many of them available on the weekends), or she'd find a babysitter. Right, some piece of dirt, just like her, in some piece of crap neighborhood. Um, sorry - I couldn't live with myself knowing I was out shopping and at lunch while they were with some dirtball friend of hers, so I just said we'd watch them. Which, I'm sure, is what MOTY knew would happen - she's dumb like a fox. Oh, well, it's an arrangement that we'll all benefit from in the long run, I just need to be selfish sometimes!!
Terry, didn't you know whoopie pies, especially pumpkin, are EVIL? But I'd still like the recipe. Last weekend, at my girlfriend's Halloween party, I had pumpkin dip with gingersnaps. Her MIL mixed cream cheese, pumpkin and Cool Whip together - and it was YUM-O!!! So, in my spare time, I took light whipped cream cheese, mixed it with Splenda, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice to taste, and had some with Murray's s/f gingersnaps. OMG! It was even better than the original. I may mix it with s/f Cool Whip to see what that's like. This, too, was EVIL! I'm going to make it again this week, paying closer attention to the proportions so I can share it at DVR's next support group meeting on 11/15!!! Stand by for the recipe!!
Mo, have fun prepping - YIKES! Too much like the day before surgery for me! But I hope the results are okay. Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad Mr. Mo's okay. What a headache insurance hassles can be! I'm not liking the new Macy's, either - especially the $$$$! I'm finding that I can't/don't want to afford most of their stuff, nor do I want to go to work looking like a trendy ho! I like Boscov's, though, got some nice stuff there on their pre-grand opening day.
I'm off for Election Day tomorrow and since school and daycare are both closed, we have - yep, you guessed it - KB!!!! That's okay, I told them we'd go to breakfast, then to the big Wally World in Aberdeen and then, if the weather holds out, a trip to the playground. I'm interested to see how the election turns out - it will directly impact who I work for. If O'Malley wins, he will most definitely appoint a new Supt., and if Ehrlich wins, he MAY keep the Col., or he MAY appoint someone new. I hope the Col. stays - he's a good man and has the best interests of the MSP at heart, and selfishly, if he doesn't, it'll mean a major overhaul here in the office. We'll see - holding my breath. So everyone vote, make an informed decision, but please, vote!! Friday's a holiday, too - Veteran's Day is Saturday, so we get Friday, and it's open! Maybe the rest if the cleaning, some shopping, etc. Who knows?
Okay, here by myself, so I guess I'd better act like I'm gonna work sometime today!
Have a great day!!!!!
Tia
