Normal - BM?

I had my RNY Lap surgery 15 days ago and not had a good BM since last Friday. My stomach is starting to feel uncomfortable - not really painful just yet. Is this typical/normal.

Hi Vickie, I don't recall not being regular first thing post-op. Have never had a problem with that. I do remember that the quantity was much smaller than prior to surgery, but the frequency has stayed pretty much daily. You say that you have not had a "good" bowel movement since your surgery. I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly, but remember that the "output" is directly related to the "input" and you're not consuming nearly the amount of food that you did pre-op. Not trying to insult your intelligence here. If you are not going at all, that is a problem and you need to discuss it with your surgeon. If you're going, but in amounts less than you think are right and you have that "bloated" feeling, you should probably discuss that with your surgeon's office too to see what they suggest. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and havent had much in the way of BM's since surgery. I have had some fluidy ones but not much in the way of solids but i'm not eating much at all. If you have any pain or discomfort i would let the doctor know asap but can't imagine that ours bodies can produce much if we aren't putting anything solid in it.
