Baltimore Support Group?
I imagine you are aware of Von Rueden's support group at GBMC- next one on 11/15/06.
While that group is good, I would be interested in having a once a month post-op social group- just to talk shop and support each other informally. A formal support group that is not run by a professional facilitator is not the best idea as so many mental health issues can come up- there should be professionals present. So I am talking about a social group gathering- where we can share recipes, products, clothing etc.
Anyone interested in setting up an informal post-op social group? Let me know as I may have a room at my workplace that can be reserved for us. It would be a social group and not focused on going out to eat or shopping (although that might be something we would do too at some point)

For me a weeknight say 7pm works best. Now the location---that we'd have to figure out. Any ideas? Perhaps someone knows of a church hall? I can check with my family about the fire station hall in Wilson Point. I like going to Panera Bread in White Marsh or Golden Ring (love the soup) - but that would only be OK for a few folks as its not really big enough for a larger gathering. My employer is in Catonsville so its not convenient for those of us living in East Baltimore area like White Marsh. Keep the ideas coming
(hey Faye-- you bringing the little chiquita when you come visit? I am here every day this week but got meetings scattered throughout---out of office on 11/7 next week. Hope to see ya soon!)

I would be interested in a social/support group too. My surgery is Nov 9, and I'm sure I will need a lot of support after my surgery. I have been trying to give as much support as I can to others. I visited two WLS e mail buddies this month, and it was joy to meet them. We're all in this together, and it would be fun to meet and share experiences and ideas! My surgeon is Dr. Schweitzer at Hopkins, Bayview, anyone have him do their surgery? I live in the Catonsville/Ellicott City area. Linda
