Hi! from New Member
The sleeve gastrectomy is a procedure where most of the stomach is cut away leaving just a "sleeve" shape. Less room for food and no hunger hormones for a while. My doctor recommended it to me because I have a lot of polyps in my stomach and with this surgery you don't lose absorbtion so less chance of osteroporosis. If you google it, you can get a lot more technical information. Thanks for asking and welcoming me. Linda
Hi Linda and welcome to the Maryland Board! We have the same surgeon, but I didn't know that Dr. Greene performs sleeve gastrectomies. Was it hard to get insurance approval for this procedure?
Do you attend the support group meetings? I will be at this Sunday's meeting, maybe I will meet you there?
