Hello!! I just got my approval from the insurance company. I am very excited about this. Can anyone share with me what I may expect right after surgery while in the hospital and the next few weeks after? thanks Cass

Hey we have the same surgeon! I had the LapBand on 9/14. I was in Bayview for 23 hours (once I got into my room). Get out of bed as soon as you feel that you can so you can get up and walk the gas out of your body. Sleep when you can - when they aren't poking, looking, and taking your BP. hehehe That's all I can tell you, I didn't have RNY and I assume you are having that.

Congratulations Cass. That is wonderful. Like Heather said, walk as much as you can as soon as you can. In fact, it will help you to start now, if you haven't already. I think that everyone reacts to their surgery a bit differently. I had a lot of pain from the drain tube, but not everyone goes home with that. I didn't drink enough and got dehydrated so I had to go back in the hospital. You should sip, sip, sip all day to avoid this. I know you are going to do great. Do you have a date yet? Hugs, Robin

Hi Cass, Being a week out I have discovered that walking and sipping(keeping hydrated) are my two best friends. My recovery is going rather well and I am actually hoping to go back to work next week if my doc lets me...even if it's parttime for a bit. Mine was open RNY. ~Heather

Congratulations Cass!! That is so exciting. I had lap RNY on 9/29. I'm 11 days out and with the exception of today, doing good. Check out my profile- I've kept a journal on here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck, Michelle

Hi Cass, We have the same wonderful doctor with his excellent staff. My surgery is next Thursday on the 19th and will let you know more of what to expect afterwards. I will recuperate at my mother's for a few days after discharge as my husband will be at work. Will be home the following Thursday and can post more then. Good luck and any date they give you, will be the best day for the rest of your life.
