At my parents and doing well

Hi Everyone! Got out of the hospital on the 5th and pretty much just rested the rest of the day. My parents live in Baltimore County so the drive from DC was pretty rough. WAY too many bumps. I was so glad to have that pillow against my stomach, it would have been much worse without! Surgery went well and I got lucky in the hospital and got a private VIP suite...had a beautiful view of DC. That sure was nice for recovery. I do have to keep reminding myself to drink, drink, drink but am getting better. Funny how before it would take nothing for me to finish a bottle of water and now it's taking forever. S/F popsicles are too sweet so I had to cross them off my list already..but I'm still fine with S/F jello. Since the weather was so bad I had been making laps around the house but today walked up and down the street and will do it again a few more times. I'm going to try to increase my distance every day. My pain is alot less today which is nice and I get to start my wonderful pureed foods tomorrow! WOOHOO!! Hope all is well with everyone, sorry it took me so long to post. Have a great and happy day! ~Heather

Hi Heather, I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you Just do what you can with the drinking. It'll get better. I remember thinking that if I wasn't drinking, I was eating and I felt like I always had something in my mouth. If you have any questions, fire away! Take Care, Terry

OK, now I feel all better. I have been looking for you and thinking about you. I didn't want to call and be a pest so I waited for you to feel up to emailing or posting. You go girl with the walking and feeling better. And yes I am getting just a bit nervous, it's gone from having 20 days to having only 5 more days. I hope I can eat my s/f popsicles I do love them so. Keep up the work girlie you are no officially a LOSER. (us with our protein drinks, lol) HUGS MARGIE

Hi Heather, I'm 9 days post op and trust me I was the same way with the liquids....I was scared to actually swallow normal for fear that it would be too much liquid at once. I also had to make myself eat because I wasn't hungry...that is until around day 6 when I was watching tv and a food commercial came on that looked so yummy. Another thing I noticed is that the protein shakes were getting old. I love chocolate but the thought of another chocolate protein shake makes me ill. I went and bought some Isopure protein drinks at the vitamin store. They don't take really great (slight after taste) but you only have to drink 1 1/2 bottles to get the daily protein requirement for now that is and the rest of the day you can drink your crystal light or whatever. Well best of luck to you on a speedy recovery. Did you have open or lap? Michelle

I had Open RNY. Actually feeling pretty good today, no pain meds all day, walked alot and ready to kiss my blender since I can start pureed food tomorrow LOL I know I probally won't be feeling that nice in a week or so. I've heard about the Isopure, I'll have to pick up one or two and see how I like it. ~H

Posted in another thread, but just wanted to repeat that I'm so glad your doing well. So, what's the first pureed food going to be? Curious minds want to know! Take it easy, do what the Doc says, and we look forward to catching up at the next meeting. TraciL

Heather, I am glad you are doing so well. Just keep sip, sip, sippin away, you'll get tha****er/liquids in just fine. I can take bigger drinks now at nearly 7 months out but I still sip for the most part. Seems to be easier that way. I think that gulping my drinks is a thing of the past. Take care. Hugs, Robin
