Hi I would like to get a rough idea about the costs for WLS at Sini Hosp in Baltimore or Johns Hopkins, and is it different with Medicare... Thank You TUG

Hi Tug, I'm sorry, I don't know but I didn't want your post to go unanswered. Perhaps you could call both of the surgeons associated with the facilities and get an idea? Good Luck on your WLS Journey Take Care, Terry

Hi Tugboat, Have you checked PRMC right here in Salisbury? I believe they are a Center of Excellence and Medicare's newest regulations dictate that they will only provide coverage at a Center of Excellence. Best wishes on your WLS journey. Hugs, Mo

My husband and I both just had the surgery at Sinai. I don't have all the costs in my head, but here is what I remember. The surgeon fee alone was $7000. My husband had an assistant surgeon fee in addition for $2100 that Medicare won't pay for. Hosptial fees totaled over $15000- over $11000 of that figure was for hosptial supplies. I am sure there are still other bills that will come in. Fortunately our insurance covered all or almost all of the costs involved. Hope you have good insurance.

Hi Gary, Thanks for the info, however I can give you a website to have the operation done in Mexico... My daughter had it don there 2 years ago and is doing very well...You can try Obesity Surgery Mexico, or [email protected]... The DRs. name is Dr. Alejandro Aguirre Wallace... The quote I got was about $10,400, a lot less than PRMC, and I hear its nice down there, the price includes houseing also... Hi Tugboat, I had open RYN at Hopkins and it ran aroung $20,000+ ...my only out of pocket cost (for the surgery itself) was $100 co-pay with my insurance so I count myself very blessed. There are many surgeans in our area and though their prices vary a little but typically they're about the same. The main thing is finding someone who you feel comfortable with. Best of luck, , pat
