Sugar Free Candy
Kelly,
Sugar alcohols are a 'personal' thing. Some people will tolerate them and some won't. I know for myself I don't have a problem with s/a in some products but other things may cause me to have severe cramping.
You should probably talk to your nutritionist about whether or not you should be trying s/f candies.
When I feel I absolutely MUST have candy I go for the real thing, but in a very limited quantity.
Hugs, Mo
Hi Mo- yeah I'm not really a candy person but every once in a while I would have a reese's peanut butter cup. when the mood hit. So I was just wondering if anyone had tried s/f candy. I have tried a syrup that had 12 g of s/a and i did fine but didnt use that much. So the sugar doesnt bother you when you have the real thing? Your farther out then me too so. Yeah i think I'll wait till I talk to my nut. I have to see her for my 3 month thats coming up so thanks for the advice.
Take care

My nut says count the s/a grams just like sugar- for the dumping effect issue anyway. I can tolerate about 6-10 grams of regualr sugarin one serving but cannot tolerate same in s/a.
The s/a causes me loose stools- but if anyone has issues with constipation---maybe some s/a as needed would be a solution.

Hi Kelly.
Just like everyone said, it varies from person to person as to how well they tolerate sugar free stuff. I can typically only eat one piece. I don't dump from them but I get that really uncomfortable flip-flop, air bubbles effect that I don't like. I save the s/f candy for those times when I am desperate for something sweet. I want to find a good recipe for cheese cake that I won't dump on. I may have to research that this week. That would satisify my sweet tooth and maybe won't be terribly bad for me.
