WOOHOO WOOHOO! Okay, so I'm a bandster and today was my 2 week post op follow up. I am officially down 13 pounds which is great because I have no restriction. Now I just have to be a good girl until my fills start having a good affect on how much I can eat, but I don't eat much now. I think that my tummy must be sensitive and still swollen. My first fill is 10/26. Heather

Heather - That's wonderful! Since I'm a bandster-virgin, so to speak, do tell...what is a fill? If I have a choice, I want to be filled with chocolate or a margarita, or both, but I suspect that's not what you mean!!!! Tia

Well the difference between the band and RNY is that after surgery I have practically no restriction because the band is empty. Fills are literally that. A needle injects saline into a port (under the skin just 4" below my left breast) that goes to the band around my stomach. The saline fills the band making it tighter around my stomach hence allowing me to eat less. The band is a gradual thing where RNY is done in one fell swoop. It's why the weightloss is so much slower, but the good news is that in the end we all lose about the same amount of weight I have the largest band which holds 11 ccs I believe. My husband's first fill was 4 ccs and his 2nd was 2 ccs. So his is just half filled and he can have several fills. The first couple of fills are scheduled at particular intervals (1st at 6 weeks and 2nd at 14 weeks) and then the rest are based on if you stop losing weight or if you are still getting hungry. Way to go Heather. Let us know how it goes after the first fill. My cousin had a lap band, and did wonderful. She's done with plastics, and the transformation is amazing. Stay positive - you have the tool now to succeed. TraciL
