Hi all, I am in need of some different recipes for protein shakes than the ones I got at Sinai. I like some but need more variety, at least for the next 10 days or so. I know people ask this from time to time but I beg your indulgence. Look forward to hearing from you. I am doing well and recovering nicely. Have lost 13 lbs since a week ago. Now 9 days post op. Thanks for your help! Julie

Hi Julie, I'm pretty boring with my shakes, but I make an iced coffee shake every a.m. 16 oz cold water 1 cup crushed ice 2 rounded teaspons instant coffee 1 to 1 1/2 scoops vanilla protein 1/3 cup powdered milk (sometimes) 3 to 4 packets of equal Shake it up well or run in the blender. When all is said and done I get my protein and 20 oz of fluid also. I also sometimes add shots of DaVinci SF syrups. My favorite is the kaluha flavoring. If you like orange creamsicles you can take Crystal Light Sunrise orange (or one of the orange flavored waters) and blend with ice and vanilla protein powder. I've heard the rasberry waters mix really well with chocolate powder (haven't tried those myself). I'm not much for adding fruits and stuff to my shakes. As I said, I do the iced coffee thing each a.m. I just shake mine and throw it in my bag to carry with me. By the time I get to work it's all dissolved and yummy. Hugs, Mo

Julie, Congratulations... variety is good during the early stages. I used Permalean Shakes early post op and still use them almost 3 1/2 years post op. Believe it or not I didn't find a whole lot of need for variety but here's a few things I do...much like MO. Early post op I used only water as called for on the container. I was low on potassium so Dr. Gandsas (G) had me add banana. Was great with both chocoloate or vanilla. I also use instant decaf coffee to both chocolate and vanilla. Seems early on I couldn't make them too thick or I couldn't get down. Now I use ice a lot to get a consistency that is similar to soft ice cream... yummy for a treat. If you find you can tolerate it use Skim milk, That increases the protein. Even AnyWhey (tasteless) will boost a shake up. Since you are probably entering pureed stage... if you like eggs and cottage cheese you can experiment with that now. I also found applesauce to provide some much needed fiber... great with a little cinnamon. Best wishes, Lisa

I have been using Unjiury, both choc and vanilla for about 2.5 years..I mix with lactose free milk.... The unjury folks have a new flavor...strawberry, that mixes with water...I thought it was disgusting, but others love it. The vanilla and choc are very easy to get down...no grit, no aftertaste, etc...also, because my mornings are so rushed, I get up at 4:30 am, I only mix with a spoon...and it mixes great...it would probably be excellent with ice, blended with a power tool, LOL...but at that time of the morning I hesitate to use loud tools... Anyway, check out Unjury. RAE
