Are their any guys that post in the Maryland Section?
Hey Syd -
Welcome! Thanks for posting!!! Yep, Daniel is here sometimes, but he's more of a lurker! Probably because he's riding the fitness train A LOT! I bow in awe of his dedication!
I have to admit that a lot of our topics seem to be women-related, but maybe not, if you consider we talk about wls, work, kids, etc., with a couple of conversations centered around SHOPPING! Oh, yeah, and MEN - or rather, lack of, in my and Terry's case!!!
But, please, feel free to join in anytime. We also have some get-togethers, or try to every 4-6 weeks. Daniel hasn't joined us yet, but there's still hope that all of you will!
Don't worry, we're equal opportunity offenders here, and always looking for new victims - oops! sorry, friends!!!
Take care,
Teresa (Tia)

Teresa, Thaks for the welcome. I'm not worried about the female talk. I can work around that. I still think its good to be able to interact with others that are local and have gone through or are going through what I have. WLS is the common factor and it great to bea able to talk to others about it. My surgeon is based in Virginia. However, I live in Maryland so I felt it would be best to hang out here instead of the Virginia forums. Perhaps I'll get out and have the opportunity to meet some of you soon. I'm going to try and make it to the Crofton Support Group coming up. I don't think its too far from me.
Thanks for the welcome.
I should try to hook you guys up online with my SO. He is MO and could really benefit from the RNY surgery i think. He has struggled with his weight for a long time. Big portion control issues for him (heck that was my issue as a pre-op). He likes to guzzle down lots of water and diet soda and figures he could never do so as a post op. Plus he doesn't seem ready currently to end his love affair with food. I know this may sound a bit strange, but when I pointed out his connection with food and comfort/love- he totally agrees he is "sexed up" at just the thought of good food and lots of it.
Hi Karen -
I think everyone that is MO suffers from a love/hate relationship with food - male or female. I remember making my "last supper" list pre-op, convinced that I wouldn't be able to eat that type or quantity of food. Of course, I know your sweetie has seen the amazing progress you've made, but you know as well as I do that it'll work only when he's ready. Post-op, I've found that I do eat at the restaurants that were on my list, just not the quantity of before. In fact, when I see people loading up their plates, it absolutely nauseates me! I've eaten at every restaurant on my list post-op at least once. I just always have leftovers now, or I make sure I share! I guzzle water, now, too, and since I wasn't a big soda drinker pre-op, it doesn't bother me. Crystal Light's my drug of choice.
Bring him along to the next support group meeting - we'd love to meet him!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Teresa
