Any Bariatric Bikers out there?

One of my WLS buddies recently told me "she bought a bike and loves to ride it.....it makes her feel like a kid again." I, too find it to be great exercise and what better time of year to get out and enjoy the fall season!!! One of the trails I enjoy biking the most is the B & A trail that runs from the Glen Burnie area down towards Annapolis. I am calling on anyone in the area that may have an interest in meeting to ride the trail maybe once or twice over the next two months or so. Maybe we can form a little Bariatric Bikers group. The whole thing (round trip) is about 26 miles, but you don't have to do the whole thing. You can also start at Marley Station to the end (round trip) and cover about 20 miles. You can also cover a shorter path on the trail if you want. But the best thing about the trail is that the incline grade is no greater than 3% meaning it is relatively flat. There are plenty of benches and even a couple of picnic tables along the path if you want to stop. There's also a ranger station along the path with restrooms and water fountains. Let's make it a fun day. It's also a good opportunity to meet some new WLS faces in the MD area. If anyone has any interest in meeting to make the ride, please email me at [email protected]. I am open to either day on the weekend as well as suggestions for a firm date. I will let everyone know what feedback I get. Joann

Hey Joann - Thanks for the idea! I love the fall, and you're right, what better time to get out and get some exercise and fresh air. Unfortunately, I don't have a bike, but am asking Santa for one for Christmas. I hadn't ridden in a long time, and while I know it's "just like riding a bike," I think I'm going to have to look into adult training wheels first!!! Seriously, this sounds great, and if Santa comes through, I'll be emailing you. Take care, Teresa
