Incompetent person almost cancelled my surgery!!!!

OK, I'm going to look at the bright side, it wasn't cancelled. However, I got a urgent call from my WLS doctor's nurse saying that I was never saw by a cardiologist, and the doctor has requested that at my initial visit. Well, I know for a fact that my primary care doc IS a cardiologist and all they wanted was a EKG (or so I thought). The nurse called my primary care and the INCOMPETENT secretary told her that my primary care WAS NOT a cardiologist. I have been going to him for 10 years...I've had several EKGs and watched others have stress tests etc done there. Needless to say, I called and she argued with me "HE IS NOT A CARDIOLOGIST", I told her she was wrong and to have the doctor call me. In 5 minutes I had a return call and an apology. You know, it's sad when she is the one that SCHEDULES stress tests, EKGs etc. Wonder if she even knows what they are for???? I wanted to get her over the phone lol I feel better, but had I been at work this morning when the nurse called my cell phone, she may have taken me off the schedule knowing that it would be slim to none for me to get clearance with a cardiologist by next week. All better now...but wow, that was a close one. My fiance is in surgery today...right at this moment having a disc fusion in his back. I was there consoling him and seeing him off this morning and this happens. I feel selfish that I had to take care of this 1/2 hour before his surgery, but it had to be done. He didn't seem scared at all, but I know he was nervous. I came to work (it's only 10 minutes from the hospital) for a short time because it's going to be a 4 hour surgery and almost an hour in recovery. Not to mention it must have been "bring your toddler to the waiting room day". I love kids as a rule, but I guess I was extra stressed and the parents were really driving me nuts. lol Thanks for letting me vent! You guys are great! Debbie

Debbie - Wow! What a day! Good for you for pursuing this - especially since you were right!!! Yes, there's lots of incompetence in the world, I believe they're all from the same planet. Hope everything goes okay with your sweetie's surgery - don't worry, I'm sure he was too focused on his issues to really worry if you were there or not. I love kids - especially with chocolate sauce. I love kids, they taste like chicken!! Well, you see where I'm going with this. Keep us posted! Take care, Tia

Tia, Thanks for listening! ;) lol I was there until he went back to surgery, but 30 minutes before, I'm on the cell with my doc's....oh well. I love him to death and he knows it. lol Of course I will be in one of those wonderful hospital recliners tonight, because I hate to be in the hospital by myself...so I can't leave him either.
