TGIF Everybody!
Good Morning Everybody!
How is everyone today? What's up for the weekend? I'm working tomorrow and then going to a get-together with friends. It should be a good time as these friends throw this bash every year. I'll be working on Sunday too. I'm trying to make up time taken at the beginning of the week. Eating wise, I've been doing good. Exercise, well that's a different story. I'm doing yard work today and if I'm not too tired, I may go work out at Curves.
Have a Great Weekend!
Take Care,
Terry
Good Morning Sunshine!
Yes, I'm alive - somewhat. Dad's recovery has been nothing short of phenomenal - when the pt came yesterday, he said that Dad is at the recovery point of someone who is 6 weeks out from total knee replacement! He has minimal pain, and had the staples removed yesterday. He also admitted to the dr. that he drove about 2 miles yesterday to get coffee, and the dr. said it was ok as long as he didn't overdo it. Initially, he was told 4 weeks, but I think because he's doing so well. So, he's on his own, now. His mood has been "okay," he was getting to be a real pain in the butt because he had to sit home. Poor baby! I wish somebody would tell me I had to stay home for four weeks! Just give me a book and the front porch and I'm there!!!
We have the kids this week, daycare's closed, and today's plan is Jeepers - sort of like Chuck E. Cheese on crack! But they've been looking forward to it for weeks!
I broke a tooth badly on 8/17, the night Dad came home, and went to the dentist the next morning. It didn't hurt, I was just hoping that they could save it, but alas, the dentist said it had to be pulled. And pulled by an oral surgeon at that, since my roots are curved. So I was scheduled for 8/29, (the dentist said I should be fine as long as I didn't chew on it). Yeah, right. I woke up on Tuesday in horrendous pain, and my gum was swollen and purple. Now, normally for me, purple is a good thing - not this time! OMG! THE PAIN! So they squeezed me in on Wednesday and pulled it. It took all of about 3 minutes and the surgeon said there was no problem. I was good to go until the numbness wore off and then WHAM! OMG! THE PAIN! I finally had to call and get some narcotic painkillers, which I've been taking faithfully. Still in pain, the meds take the edge off, somewhat, but don't eliminate the pain. The paper I got says that pain for 48-72 hours is normal. WTH????!!! And so is swelling, so of course, I'm swollen. The pain meds also wire me - I mean wire me! So last night, I was up until about midnight, going through cookbooks for dishes to make in my spare time!! I woke up in pain, am trying to get by with just extra-strength Tylenol, because I don't want to use up all my good drugs too soon! If it doesn't get better by the end of the day, I'm going to have to call him again! This is not fun! Nothing can ever be simple in my life - but I know I could have it much worse.
I missed DVR's support group meeting on Wednesday, which is something I try never to do. Any insight from Faye or Tracy would be great!
I have a lot of reading to do to catch up with you all, but I think I'm going back to bed with my ice bag for a while. Hope everybody is well!
Talk soon,
Love ya,
Tia with the sore mouth!!!
hey there sweetie
Sowwy to hear you have a sore mouth ... in my opinion tooth problems are right up there in the top 1 of the WORST !!!!
Glad to hear that Dad is recovering well. I know you were stressed about that, so this is a good sign. I know this is a totally different type of thing, but the first Thanksgiving we were in our house here in MD my parents were coming for the weekend. Well, Mom and Dad could be renamed the 'Bickersons' .. it's always something with them. I made up my mind that if they started fussing I was going to tell them that it was MY house and I wasn't going to stand for it. I don't know if I 'radiated' that resolve or what but the entire weekend they were on their best behavior. It was one of the best holidays I'd ever had with them. Maybe there is something your Dad senses in you with this surgery that he's pulling his own weight on it and working to get back on his feet!
Hope you get feeling better quick!
Hugs, Mo
Good morning Terry
I am surprisingly alert this a.m. considering I didn't get to sleep last night until almost midnight. Another 'fun' night of line dancing I can do the steps before the music starts and then soon as the music starts my feet go in totally the WRONG directions. I am determined I WILL get this. There are a couple of 'simple' dances that I am catching on to, so maybe the less simple ones will come in time . I've just about run out of my 'guest visits' to the Moose, so last night I filled out the application to become a WOTM (Women of the Moose) so that I can keep going dancing.
No huge plans (yet) that I know of for the weekend. I think we will do our out to dinner tonight because Mr Mo is the 'late' man tomorrow and the earliest he will be out of the office in Baltimore is 8-8:30 p.m. and there is the potential that it could be MUCH later than that even. I'll probably get my BJ's shopping list together and take care of that tomorrow while he's working.
I'm off NEXT Friday because we are taking the RV out over Labor Day weekend (can you believe it's almost Labor Day already ???) so I might spend part of Sunday making sure that everything is ready for us to go and maybe planning meals, etc for while we are gone. I am actually much more domestic when we are out in the RV than I am when we are home.
Have a wonderful day! TGIF for sure.
Hugs, Mo
Hi to all! Figured I'd jump in and say hello! Tomorrow we're taking Kylie to my aunt's church fair in Glen Burnie where they'll have a petting zoo and pony rides and then Sunday we're heading to the Rennaissance Faire. It's the children's weekend so it should be a lot of fun for her. There is even a princess party. She's only 20 months, but she'll have a good time anyway!
I'm trying to keep my husband motivated. He's been eating more than he should be and he recognizes that, but years of overeating don't help and he's had just one 4cc fill in his VG band. His next fill isn't until 9/11 so I've got to help keep him on track - not that he listens. Once my surgery is done it should be easier for him I think.
Have a great weekend!!!
Heather
Hi Heather
I bet Kylie is a little doll Have fun at the Rennaissance Faire. Do you do that every year? I was always fascinated by it and we did go one time. That was all I needed, now I don't need to go again, but I know people who not only go every year, but go every weekend every year AND travel to other states to go to Rennaissance Fairs all over the country.
Have a great time!
Hugs, Mo
I'm partial, but yes she is a little doll. She looks like the Gerber baby and more and more she is looking like MaryKate and Ashley Olson (when they were toddlers). I'll try to post her picture in my profile. We usually go to the Renn Fest every year, but only once (sometimes twice with friends) and honestly we're there to get the turkey legs and see some of the shows. The walking is good exercise. We don't get dressed up or anything though.
