Pending...Pending...Pending

The request to my insurance was put in last Monday and I haven't heard anything yet. I am anxious because I heard that BCBS is going to change the rules and require a 6 month physician supervised diet before approval. I called the BCBS this afternoon and was told that my case is still pending and to call back on Thursday. Please pray that I am approved without having to go through extra hoops. I have been accepted to Nursing school next year and I need to have WLS this fall so I can be fully recovered and adjusted before classes start. Elizabeth

Thanks Mo. I learned today that I can add sleep apnea to my list of comorbidities. Tonight I will be going in for C-PAP titration study. Elizabeth

Elizabeth, I wish you the best of Luck. Keep calling them everyday and be persistant. I dont think just because they are changing the rules that it should apply to you. You have already sent your paperwork in. It's not your fault they want to change the rules. If it happens I would fight it. Keep us posted Kelly

Thanks for the advice Kelly. I will call tomorrow and if they say I am pending I will start calling everyday. Now that I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea there is even more reason for me to have wls. Elizabeth

I have BCBS PPO and when they submitted my paperwork for approval they said I needed to do a 6 mo supervised weight loss and I have a 42 BMI and 4 co morbs and they denied me for the diet. I am in month 5 of my diet now and I just wonder what excuse they will come up with next. (I am learning the hard way not to get to excited) Best of Luck to you!!!

I am sorry you got stuck with that requirement. I looked on your profile and we don't have the same BCBS plan. I have the federal employee plan which is different than Empire. My surgeon has many other FEP BC/BS patients that have been approved in a week or less. I guess I should take into consideration that it is August and a lot of people, including insurance precertification officials, take their vacations around this time. Elizabeth
