Hello all! Just got back from my Sleep Study that I didn't even need in the first place! What a Nightmare! My room was BOILING HOTT!!! The bed was so Hard and Uncomfortable. I got there at 930 and I told the tech I usually dont go to bed till 12-1am in the morning. So he said ok and then he came in the room and hooked me up to all the bells and whistles and proceeded to ask me very personal questions which I ofcourse shyed away from. He was a russian guy from the Ugoslovia and his english was not that good. He was very ubrupt. So I laid down on the bed with all the pillows and everything behind my head and back and ready to read/watch TV. Then he said Goodnight and turned out the lights. I then intercomed him and told him I was in no way shape or form ready for bed and he said "Test had already started and you must sleep now or will have to end test and you reschedule for another night". So I started tearing up a little bit because I hadn't said good-night to my Fiance. So I called him real quick on my cellphone and the Tech Interupted and said "NO CELLPHONES" So the rest of the night was a toss and turn event full of sweating, interuptions by the tech to adjust everything over and over and me swearing at everything. It took all I had to not just leave. Sooo DO NOT GO TO GBMC for your Sleep Study!!

Wow, I'm sorry that you had to deal with that. I had a good experience at mine. My room was like a hotel room, not hot at all and they had a fan in case it got hot. I had mine done in Towson, I forget the name of the place though. I'm so sorry that you had such a hard time. I hope that they got the information they needed. I don't blame you a bit for calling your honey and saying good night I hope that you get some restful sleep tonight. If the guy was not nice to you, I think you should let his manager know. Sleep well tonight! Debbie

Rachel, file a formal complaint in the form of a letter detailing your experience. I had him too and he's a terrible person who should not be dealing with people in a health care setting. He did my test at St. Joseph's (right there next to GBMC) and I filed a complaint. I don't think they let him work out of St. Jo's anymore but maybe they trasnferred him to GBMC. It's a shame too because they used to have a great team over there for the sleep studies. I would definately complain though, it might save someone else from going through the same terrible experience. Best of luck to you in the rest of the process, Roni

Hi Rachel, I got that same guy a couple of week ago and will NEVER go back to have a sleep study. I came home and told my family that I had a sleep study from hell , he was a Natzi, so un caring. I was like you and could not sleep it was so early and he kept coming into my room and telling me to "Sleep NOW"!!!! It just gave in the creeps that this guy was watching me while I was in the room. The room is very hot and the bed very hard , not his fault . He needs to learn to speek english better before he deals in a medical job. Bobbie

Rachel I am glad you shared that experience so that others are aware. That guy sounds sooo creepy. I had my sleep study done at Sinai last Wednesday night and the staff there was wonderful but I was so uncomfortable all night. Even when I stay in hotels , I just toss and turn all night just like I did for the sleep study. I can imagine if I went where you did, I definately would be in tears. Just being away from my family that one night was so depressing.
