Hello everyone, I recently had GB RNY Surgery and I would like some pointers as to what's normal and what's not abnormal. I know that everyone is different however I am so BLOATED!!! :horse: I am praying that I made the right choice to ask for this tool, I just need some guidance and prayers.

Hi, I'm not sure what exactly is normal and not normal since we are all different. How recently did you have your surgery? Was it laproscopic RNY? That may account for some of your 'bloated-ness' if the gas hasn't passed out of your system. Hugs, Mo

Hello and thanks for replying, I had it laproscopic RNY. I have passed alot of gass and actually had some weird bowel movements (sorry for the details). I just figured I could get help from someone that may have experienced some of this. My mom thinks I'm fine considering I had the procedure 4 days ago. Also when should I start walking more, I live in a condo and I'm on the top floor and I was unsure if I should be walking alot of stairs because the more I walk the more pain I feel in the upper abdomen area.

Oh Wow!! Only 4 days post op. Walking is an important part of recovery and also getting the gas out. I am really not sure about the stair thing. I had open and didn't have a restriction on going up and down stairs (it wasn't like when I had my hysterectomy and could only go up and down stairs once per day for several weeks). If you are having pains that you are concerned about, I would suggest you call your surgeon's office. I am sure they are answering questions every day about what to expect and what to do. Best wishes as your WLS journey continues, Hugs, Mo

Hello Tamia Take it easy for now. If your pain becomes too severe, you may want to talk to your Dr. Remember to drink plenty fluids. Take your time and sip. You should be feeling better, pain wise, in about another week. Be sure to follow your Dr's orders. Nadine O.

Hi Yourself Nadine  Thanks so much for responding, I almost feel as if that drain tube was still inside of me, although I saw and felt them remove it. I will speak with the surgeon tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks again for your response. Tamia ;-)

Tamia We are here ....congratulations on your new start Ok down to business...bloating is normal for several days post-op Lap RNY. As far as the gas...walk, walk, walk. I live in a townhouse and took it easy with the stairs for the first week or so. BUT you can walk around your condo and walk the floor that you live on. The distance is not really as important as the frequency and duration. Remember to follow YOUR SURGEON's post-op instuctions...we can give you some great general advise BUT your doc has his OWN rules. Now...what other concerns do you have? Tanya

Hi Tanya, I'm sorry that I am just responding to your message. Today made exactly one week post op and I must say that I am feeling alot better, I still have some pains and I tried to sleep in my bed and I just seem to hurt myself more. I do have a follow up appointment tomorrow and I'll be sure to ask lots of questions then. My main problem now is I need something else to eat. I have never been a big fan of milk shakes or shakes period and I have been on this liquid diet for 3 1/2 weeks now, I had to start 2 1/2 weeks prior to surgery to shrink the liver and I must stay on it until I see the surgeon. What are some great soft diet foods to try and I also must include my protein. Thanks, Tamia
