How much time off did you need after surgery?
I realize this is an individual question but am worried about how much time I will need to recover. I am a middle school counselor and am mostly sedentary. I have about 3 and a half weeks of sick leave left. If all goes well, how much time do you think I will need. Oh, my commute is 90 mins round trip.
Thanks,
Julie
I didn't rush back to work and I had something else (unrelated to surgery that I needed time off for, so I took a little over 5 weeks off. I could've went back at 3 or 4 weeks but I know I would've struggled to make it through a full day because I was still taking naps in the afternoon. Conversely, I had a co-worker that had surgery 12 days after me and she was at the mall shopping a week after surgery and back to work a week or so after that...we all heal differently.

Hi Julie. I am also a middle school teacher. At the time I had the surgery, I worked in a school where I had to climb many stairs to get to and from my room. The school did not have air conditioning either. To make a long story short, I was off for three weeks total. I was actually ready to go back to work at the end of the first week. Really --- I felt GREAT!!! But you know --- each person is so different when it comes to the healing process.
I guess I would be more worried about the drive. At the time my commute was 35 minutes on way.
You should be fine.
