Psyc today
Hi Maryland,
I'm going for my Psyc evalutation tonight No need for me to spend $100 I can aleady tell her I am crazy. I just look at this as one more step to crossing over this wide river of WLS and I am sorry I waited till I was 61 years old to finally make this step for myself. Tomorrow is my second vist to the great Dr. DVR s office for my 6 mo diet that my insurance MDIPA is making me do and I am afarid I have not done so great the first month on this thing. I find this diet business all so crazy we fat chicks are all diet experts we have done them all we just can't seem to keep the weight from coming back and lots more . Maybe I am off to such a slow start is that I know I can lose a great deal of weight in the 6 mo having lost 125# three different times in my 61 years. My main fear is that they will tell me after the 6 mo diet that I have proven that I can lose weight without the RYN, of course it will be some skinny-mini who has never been 5# over weight in her life time telling me this. Gosh I wish they had spell Ck on this thing. You all have a great Tuesday.
Bobbie
Hey Bobbie -
My psych eval was pretty painless, and actually, lasted no longer than 30-45 minutes. I went to see Dr. Harvey Gerwanter near FSHC. Don't stress too much about the pre-op diet; I think they think this is one way of making sure you're committed. But you're right, if I could've done this without yo-yoing half my life, I would have. You won't find that they'll think you can do this without WLS, so please don't worry about this.
DVR's support group meeting is tomorrow night at 7 p.m., and unless his criteria has changed, I was required to attend at least one meeting pre-op. If you can make it, we'd love to meet you!
Good luck and keep us posted!

Bobbie,
Don't worry too much about the 6 month supervised diet. My PCP explained it to me that MDIPA requires it to show that you can commit to a structured medical program for an extended period of time. We will need to follow a structured medical program after surgery, and insurance wants to be certain that we can be compliant. Unfortunately, some people think that the surgery will magically cause the weight loss, rather than being a tool for weight loss. We still have to work hard. I know it is frustrating when you want it NOW, but understanding the rationale, makes it a bit easier to take.....at least it did for me.
