Good morning to all. Well, 5 more days and I will be on my way to a much desired weight. I am new to Maryland so I don't have any friends as of yet and would like to meet someone to share my ups and downs. Right now I see problems with preparing foods for my husband and son. I don't want them to give up what they like and I don't want to stop preparing their meals but it looks like they are on their own. I am sure they will not mind. It is probably me just thinking they can't survive without me. Any thoughts on this matter? Call me GiGi.

Good Morning Gigi - If you look at our Good Morning posts, you'll see that I am quite chatty. I'm also willing to share my experience with you, which I'll do by email, that way I don't have to bore anyone but you!!! What I will say here is that this is a great board, gaining popularity, and I hope that you'll join us often. A friend of mine had his WLS with Dr. Magnuson at Bayview, and he really liked him. He's done well, too. Well, welcome and be assured that all the emotions you're feeling right now leading up to your surgery are completely normal. I'll email you more some time today! Take care, Teresa - lap rny 8/2/05 - 370/236/170

Welcome! Hope everything goes well on the 28th! My BF is a biggggg food fan and he is worried that once I cannot eat one particular food than I won't buy it for him either...I have assured him that this surgery is my choice and that I will have the will power to fix him his goodies while sitting out on them. It will be tough, but we can do it!

Leslie, With prayer and self control I hope so. At first my husband said he was going to eat the same things (amount too) when I told him I was approved for the surgery. But then he was singing another story. MEN.... thanks for the support

Howdy GiGi! I had surgery with Dr. Magnusson April 3rd, and yes, his bedside manner does get better in the hospital! I saw him more there than before or since! Make sure you write a list of questions and he will answer them all, but he tends not to volunteer a whole lot. You'll get to know his PA Pat too - a great lady who is very concerned about all of us. Good luck with your surgery, and I hope to see you at one of the suport group meetings up at Bayview. I'll be mising the August one due to vacation, but I'll be back with bells on for September! Joanna also federal BCBS

Hi Joanna Thanks for confirming my thoughts on Dr. Magnuson. I haven't met Pat yet. How do I find out about the support group at Bayview? Who do you work for? I work for the Dept of Justice, Bureau of ATF & E. Later GiGi

Sorry to take so long to reply, my husband had a liver biopsy yesterday, and I've been a bit preoccupied. The pre-op, or information group meets the 3rd Thursday of the month from 4 to 5 pm at the Care Center Main Conference room in the John R. Burton Pavilion. For patients 6 months of less out from surgery, it is the 2nd Tuesday of the month, 5:30 to 6:30, Medical Center Pavillion Conference Room - the 'usual place' for all of the old meetings. For patients more than 6 months out, the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5 to 6 pm at the Care Center Main Conference Room For more information, you can call 410-550-5369 Handily, I had the flyer with the meeting information with me today I work for NOAA up in Silver Spring. My Dad worked for Justice for *many* years, in the Anti Trust Division. Take care - Ineed to get back as lunch is nearly over. Joanna
