I'm just passing week 5 and am plagued by nausea and vomiting. On my second prescription for nausea (two different medicines), and don't know if I can keep this up any longer. Don't feel like a normal person either. I know this may upset some of you, but I kind of feel like an experiment gone bad - sorry! I'm down about 28 or 29 pounds, which is great, but I'm not sure this is a good way to achieve it. Anyone who has had problems with nausea and vomiting, and know of some secret way to turn the nausea switch off, please let me know. Thanks so much. I don't have my computer at home hooked up, but I'll check for posts tomorrow at the library. Thanks again. Mary

Mary, Please check back with your doctor/surgeon. The nausea and vomiting is NOT normal. You may be suffering from a stricture that needs an endoscopy and dilation. I have much sympathy for you because at 5 to 6 months I was suffering with severe nausea and vomiting and I thought it was something I was doing wrong and didn't bug my doctor about it until I had a spell of vomiting foamies almost non stop of 5 hours one day. It turned out that I had an esophageal stricture that caused a fistula between my new pouch and the old stomach (talk about pain and misery). I had to be dilated 3 times before I was finally better but even now at almost 2 1/2 years post op I still have my problems with nausea and vomiting on occasion. Also, please make sure you are staying hydrated. Try extra hard to get your fluids in because if you are vomiting, you are at risk of becoming dehydrated. Hugs, Mo

Mo - thank you so much for your response. I brought the same thing up to my doctor's PA, and she thinks I'm okay for now. They're monitoring me day by day. I too thought I had done something wrong, but according to my dietitian, I'm doing fine. They told me the nausea could last up to 6 months! Don't know if I can take this for 6 months. Today, amazingly, I'm feeling a little better - didn't get sic****il I ate lunch - maybe because I was eating it so late. I've found it hard to eat the way I should if I do or go anywhere Again, thanks for your help. I hope your boughts of nausea disappear, and I'm glad they were finally able to diagnose and cure your stricture - it sounds like you have been through the wringer! Take care. P. S. I am keeping up with the liquids, although I always wonder if they're going to stay down there!

Hi Terry, My favorite drink mint tea, seddles the tummy, helps with nausea and is good hot, warm and cold (room temp). Would still contact doctor now you are at a higher risk for dehydration since we are all unable to drink large amounts of fluid in one sitting without causing morediscomfort. Good Luck Karen Duncan P.S. It does get better

Thank you Terry for your support. I did follow Mo's advice - they're watching me at present. I hope it goes away soon, so my experimental status can change for the better. Have a great afternoon. Mary
