Doctor Roe
I am new to obesity help. Well, actually I have been reading other people' s post for weeks now. I have had my second consultation with Roe and I am only waiting for my approval to come back. I am hoping to be scheduled to lose thes two extra peolpe on my hips the beginning of September. But back to my question I feel confident that he is a wonderful surgeon but have anyone had him personally. Just wanted to hear your experiences.
Cheyanne - I had my WLS over 2.5 years ago with Dr. Roe and have had great results. Dr. Roe is a very skilled and caring suregon who knows his "stuff" when it comes to this surgery. He will go the second mile with you -- But you MUST understand that you MUST also do your part. I am also very involed in the support group he holds and personally attends on the second Wednesday of every month at GBMC. Dr. Roe also repaired my hernia and removed excess skin with muscle repair on June 1st of every year. Dr. Roe follows his patients very closely with monthly visits for the first five years post -op. I see him on a montly basis. I do have profile posted on this site as well as several of his patients. Information about Dr. Roe is also posted on this site.
We are having a picnic on August 5th in the Gumm Pavilion at Gunpoweder State Park near Chase from 10a.m. to 8 p.m. if you would like to meet more of his patients in a more casual setting.
You can contact me through this site and I will answer any question that I can.

I had my WLS with Dr. Roe on February 21, 2006, after meeting with many doctors and never having that "connection" of trust with them, I went and met with Dr. Roe and immediately fell in love. Dr. Roe is the doctor I needed, someone who will hold me accountable, but who understands I am human and do make mistakes. I have told him many of times that he is like a family member, who I don't want to disappoint, but who I know will be there for me if I need his help and he won't turn his back on me.
Dr. Roe and his staff are amazing and are truly there to help you through your entire process from beginning to end. I see him on a monthly basis, for my weigh-in/b-12 shot.
I look forward to meeting you at a future support group meeting. Please check out my profile and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Cheyanne,
I didn't have Dr. Roe but my mother did and I can tell you that he is the man of my dreams The man is a miracle worker and I'm convinced that he is the sole reason my mother is still alive today.
My mother was a patient who was turned down for referral for WLS by her PCP's. She had heart disease (heart attack in her 40's), high blood pressure, severe osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, herniated and degenerative discs, knee replacements, joint disease, severe sleep apnea, obesity related diabetes, etc. My mother was placed on disability due to obesity related illnesses by age 50. Quite honestly, she was told that she wouldn't even survive the procedure, but not willing to give up so easily, she pursued Dr. Roe on my recommendation. After careful consideration, he agreed to perform her surgery and we all thank God and Dr. Roe everday that he did. She is not only alive, but better than ever.
Hope that helps, I truly believe in him. The reason my surgery was not with him was because he was not in my insurance plan. I'm happy that another excellent surgeon was, Dr. Fullum. However I did try to go through Dr. Roe first.
