T. G. I. F.
Good Morning gang!!!
It's been a long week and I've missed most of it feeling punky. I made it through the day yesterday at work, but came home and went to bed instead of going line dancing . I'm feeling almost ok this a.m. so I am hoping the day flies by and I feel great for the weekend ... it's one thing to be sick on company time another completely to have to be sick on MY time
No big plans for the weekend. We always go out to dinner on Saturday night so I know we will do that. Probably meet up with friends that we usually see while we are out. Between their schedules and ours we've been missing our Saturday nights together for a while.
I did accomplish one major thing yesterday at work. I booked my trip to Chicago in October. Now I have that to look forward to. It's a working thing, but it will be fun and interesting.
So, what's up with y'all today???
Hugs, Mo
AMEN MO!!
Good Morning Mo (and Everybody)
Mo, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better
Nothing out of the ordinary going on here. I'm working until 2 and then I'm off to run errands. Tonight I'm meeting a friend at the Inner Harbor for dinner and anything else we decide to dream up. Tomorrow is furniture shopping with my sister and Sunday is Church and then we're going to a cook out with friends.
Have a great weekend everybody!
Take Care,
Terry
Morning Terry
Dinner at the Inner Harbor sounds GREAT. I haven't been downtown for anything in ages. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I believe Mr Mo said that the Firehouse Magazine Convention is next weekend (the 29-30th) so if it's a nice day we will go in on Sunday a.m. for the parade. Of course he might have told me it is this weekend. I guess I'll find out on Sunday morning
I don't have any desire to go to the Hard Rock at the Harbor (basically, been to several Hard Rock's and Planet Hollywood's), but I would like to see the ESPN Zone place. So I'll have to see if maybe I can influence Mr Mo to try that after the parade.
Have a great day.
Hugs, Mo
Good Morning -
IT'S FRIDAAAAAAYYYYY!!!! YAY!!!!
Mo, so glad you're feeling almost human again. You're right, it's almost ok to be sick on work time, but a sin to be sick on your time!!! Oh, Chicago, I've always wanted to go! Work or not, Mo, I hope you have a blast.
Terry, a male friend? Nosy, I know - sorry!!
Working 9:30-6 today because I have a retirement party to go to at Martin's West at 6:30, and didn't want to go all the way home only to come back this way again, so I just adjusted my schedule. A kid-free Saturday, going to check out Silhouette's gym on Saturday morning, then some birthday shopping for my sweet Brian, who, I can't believe it, is turning the big 7 on Sunday. Mom & I may go to the movies, I want to see Poseidon and The Break-Up, which is playing at the cheapo ($3) movies.
Sunday, we may go swimming, and then we'll have pizza and ice cream cake to celebrate with Brian. I cannot believe he is going to be 7!!! Seems like just yesterday - and in fact, he had some problems immediately after birth with fluid in his lungs, so that makes him more special. I was so afraid we were going to lose him. I'll never forget seeing that chubby little thing in the incubator under heat lamps. He kept trying to pick up his head and look around, and not much has changed, he's still very curious!!! At birth, he weighed a whopping 8 lbs., 15 oz., and was 19-1/2" long, so he was pretty chubby! Now, I think he weighs 42 pounds soaking wet!!!! He's the sweetest little guy, but boy, does he have his moments! He's a picky eater (mac&cheese, pizza, fish sticks, chicken nuggets and hot dogs are pretty much it), he HATES and refuses to clean up any mess he makes, and is scared to death of bees, so much that he'll SCREAM bloody murder when he sees one. On the other hand, he's smart, adorable and has big blue eyes, so what's not to love? He also loves silky tags on his stuffed animals and clothing, and rubs them when he's getting tired. What can I say? I ADORE MY BUBBA!!! Okay, thanks for letting me dote!!!!
BTW, I had an interesting "WOW" last night - I was shopping for nylons, which I try NOT to wear, and I picked up a package and saw that the weight only went up to 300 pounds. I thought, "Great, now what am I gonna do?" DUH!!!! Then it hit me, "I weigh less than 300 pounds, these'll be too big!!!" Funny, huh? After that, 236 doesn't seem so bad!! What a goof!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Stay hydrated, water your letter carriers, and have fun!!!!
Take care,
Teresa
Good morning all,
Mo, so glad to hear that you are feeling better! Must have bee a rough week. You know, I read that you are all going out to dinner, birthday parties, travelling....What do you do at restaurants where the servings are usually huge? I know the obvious answer, but how do you cope with it? I am interested to know.
Blessings to all-
Julie
Hey Julie -
Well, for me, eating out is not usually a problem. My constant companions are my Mom (always), Kaity & Brian, and my brother, Gary. It's gotten to the point that Mom & I share food most of the time. Most of the restaurants we go to are local and they know us, so we may order an entree and a salad. Mom will eat half of the entree and the sides, and I'll eat 1/4-1/2 of the entree, depending upon what it is, and about 1/2 of the salad. I make sure I only order ice water, which, of course, I don't drink during or after my meal, it's more to quiet the server from constantly asking if I need something to drink! Kaity has started to develop a weight problem, so she and I will often split a meal and a salad, too. Brian's too picky to eat anything that isn't friend or orange, so I can't share with him, and Gary will pretty much eat anything I don't - so all my bases are covered.
My sense of smell and my stomach are WEIRD post-op, so a lot of times, I can't stand the look/smell of leftovers. If I take anything home, it's usually something that reheats well, and somebody else will usually eat it before I do. My nephew's birthday is Sunday, so I'll do my usual protein shake for breakfast, something protein-heavy for lunch, and then I may eat one piece of pizza and a couple bites of ice cream cake. Again, you just have to kind of prepare in advance, it makes it easier. One important thing is, your tastes/smells/likes/dislikes will likely change after surgery, so you just have to let your body/mind guide you and try to make good choices.
HTH,
Teresa
Hi Julie,
Take out containers for leftovers are my best friend! Generally when we are traveling we are in the RV so I just bring things home and put them in the fridge and eat them the next day. Lately, I've been so finicky lately that I haven't been eating my leftovers though, so the next time it's trash day out goes the box.
I tend to eat on the 'lighter' side of the menu. I will order an appetizer or something that will be smaller than a regular meal. I haven't really split a meal with anyone because Mr Mo and I have different tastes in things.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Hugs, Mo
