Hi everyone. Does anyone know any good arm excerises to avoid getting those awful flabby arms? Mine are pretty flabby to begin with, but it's getting more so since I started really losing weight. Any help would be much appreciated! 34 pounds gone in 8 weeks!!! Yey me!!

Hi danielle I don't think you can avoid it.I use to go to the gym every day and almost killed myself and hurt my knee real bad about a year ago.Just keep at it because when you stopp the flab gets worse.hope u have a great day steve

Danielle you are doing great! I haven't been really good about exercising period except for walking, but I think that if you do some simple 'strength' training for your upper arms at least you will get some muscle definition underneath the flappy parts. Best wishes as your WLS journey continues. Hugs, Mo

Danielle, Look for some strength training exercises that focus on the bicep and tricep muscles in the arm. It may not prevent the loose skin and flab, but it will help to build some muscle definition and tone (not to turn you into a Ms. Atlas). These are some of the exercises that I've been doing with my personal trainer. There's a great library of exercises w/photos and instructions on the website for Ace Fitness (one of the personal trainer certification organizations): http://www.acefitness.org/getfit/freeexercise.aspx These are good do-it-at-home types of exercises for all areas of the body. Good luck, and keep up the great progress. Leesa

I agree w/Leesa, anything type of exercise for your triceps and biceps... The key is to use a smaller weight with a lot of repititions vs. larger weights with a lower # of repititions. You can check for on-line instructions at any womans magazine, something like that. Use canned food if you don't have weights to start off with... Keep up with it and you will begin to notice a difference pretty quickly... it probably won't get rid of the full "bat wing" effect, but it helps...

Congrats on the 34 lb loss . I'm glad you posted this question. I'm having the same problem. My arms have really gotten flabby. Nadine O.
