Should i keep working out!!!?? HELP!!!!!!!!!!Time is running out!!!!! Tina
Hi Tina, first, take a deep breath.....and s-l-o-w-l-y let it out...repeat....
Now, CONGRATS to you....how exciting......
While I did not have lapbanding, rather gastic bypass, I imagine the excitment is the same....for me, PRE-OP was WAY harder than post-op....the worry about surgery, the life changes, etc....
First, you only have 3 days left...I would encourage you to do some exercise...something that will help you relax and help you rid your body of stress.
The grocery store is another thing....I am not sure how your needs will differ from g.p. patients....
But, I had open RNY over 2 years ago...I was in the hospital for 4 days and was at the grocery store walking around by the 6th day...granted I wasn't going fast, but I went...not that I needed anything special but I was on the look out for anything that looked good to me.....
anyway, my point is that you should go to the grocery store, stock up on plenty of fluids, etc....and if you need items for your family..
But, you probably will not be housebound more than a few days.
Best wishes to YOU and keep us posted on your progress....

Tina, that is so exciting!
Re groceries, if you are talking about for YOU (I seem to mainly grocery shop for my family), why not give Nancy a call -- she'll tell you exactly what you should have on hand. You can also check out her part of the Sinai program web site. But the main thing, whether its lap band or rny, is non-carbonated, no-caffine fluids. The new flavored waters are really good. So is crystal light -- get both some sweet ones and some lemonade type -- you don't know what will appeal to you yet.
Stock up on some stuff like sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello. Both count as fluid and they go down slow and easy!
Tina,
Congratulations.. and yes, relax.... if you do Yoga or any Stretching... add that now... just so you relax... you won't be out of commission to long.
I too had Gastric Bypass but call Nancy for ideas. I know when I had surgery nothing red so no red jello, etc. You might ask and things change. Keep some broth that you can sip and if you like decaf tea that too.
I would ask Nancy to email you the pre and post op eating plan.
Best wishes!
