If you are insured in the State of Maryland and considering WLS surgery you may want to read the below Maryland law: : Utilization Review Criteria for Surgical Treatment of Morbid Obesity. http://www.dsd.state.md.us/comar/31/31.10.33.03.htm

Thanks Nadine!!! This is so helpful with Cigna patients because they do not consider "weigh****chers" a structured program... I printed it out to take with me to my consult to include with my packet to Cigna!! Thanks again!!!

Cindy, You are welcome! Knowledge (in this case) is POWER b-1 Good for you. When is your consult? They are suppose to if it is one that your physician recommends and is monitoring you on a regular basis. Plus, you don't have to meet all the criteria, if your BMI is over the NIH standard -- you go under. My physician has on an appetite suppressant since Dec. 23rd -- a medication called Phentremine. It works! I've lost almost 20 pounds and probably could have lost a lot more if I hadn't been in school and working 40 hours. Since I've been taking the meds, I've worked out one whole month. Since it was coming down to graduation, I said to heck with it. For the past few months, it's been work, school and damn algebra -- my horror class. It was a MUST to get through that class and I advised her that is where my focus is and she can talk to me about exercising after May 30th. By the way, got a 97% in Algebra
