Support Groups
Congrats Kelly,
I'll have my meeting with the surgeon 5 days prior. I've been on a 6 month supervised weight loss regiment since December, unfortunately, I haven't been exercising the way my physician would like because of school. I told her you stay up until 2-3 am doing homework and see if you felt like working out.
Where are you having your surgery? Doesn't your surgeon or clinic have support groups meeting now that you could attend? Also, in purchasing vitamins, did you purchase chewable or liquid. A friend of mine had surgery last month and purchased the regular vitamins. I told her she need chewable to liquid. I'm finding with surgeons that are performing this surgery, the instructions vary as to what you are suppose to do after. My partner had the surgery alomost 3 years ago, so I have a live -in example of what a person should do fter teh surgey.
As you asked in your other post "what to do in the meantime" -- exercise if you're not already (which since I will start back in the morning now that classes are over); develop mental toughness for after surgery -- you will have cravings for your favorite foods and you cn'at have any. Stay strong!
Thanks for the advice. I am having the surgery done at Johns hopkins Bayview and I live in crofton so I was wondering if anyone knew support groups closer to my area because I am sure there at night and I am not really a night driver especially a 45 minute drive to that area. I work at a gym part time so I do excercise when i get a chance. I havnt purchased my vitamins yet but was going to prior to my surgery. So you say get the chewable ones? Thanks for all the advice. Good luck with your surgery.
Kelly
Thanks,
I went to an informative session at Greater Baltimore earlier this month. Did your surgeon tell you that any medications you are taking "especially" time released medications. Any medication that you are taking now, you want be able to digest for awhile. After my partner had her surgery, it was chewable Flintstone vitamins and chewable Tums or rolaids to deal with the digestion, and those were taken everyday.
A lot of the chest pains and stuff I see people posting on the Q & A she didn't have. The only thing that bothers her now is if she eats too fast and it comes back up. So make sure your ask all questions that come to mind before your surgery -- especially having to do with your digestion because that will change as well.
