Upfront payment of co pay for St Agnes
Usually when a hospital asks for a prepayment, a person has not reached her deductible, yet. Even if there are bills out there yet to be submitted to your insurance company that would be applied to the deductible, it is first come, first served. So if St. Agnes called your insurance company and found the deductible had not been met, they can (and will) ask for that money upfront. They will, however, have to refund any money you paid that insurance did cover by the time you have the surgery and the hospital submits the bill.

No, I have met my deductable which was $450.00. I also have a clause that the ins. co. will only pay 85% of the hosiptal bill up to the catastrophic limit, aAfter that it will cover 100%. I think that amount is $4,000. My approval letter told the hospital the percentages that they would pay. Thanks for you reply. Barbara
