Do you have to pay front in Winnipeg or is it covered by provincial healh care?
As far as I know the lapband is not done at the Victoria Hospital. Your Dr would have had to send an update on yout weight etc before you got invited to orientation so you are probably ok. If you have other health conditions you may still qualify for the program with a lower BMI. If you would like to join our facebook group please send me you email and I will send you an invite.

I'm attending the orientation on June 24th. I'm worried my Bmi is not high enough. It's 37. I also have high blood pressure and I'm hypothyroid.
are the two options still the only ones available at the Vic in wpg or can you get the lapband through the program as well?
If you would like to join our facebook page, send me your email and I will add you. There are people there who have gone outo of province and country as well as had surgery in Winnipeg. Some parts are covered as in surgery and I believe some travel costs but not out of country.

Hi there,
i have been accepted to the bariatric clinic in Winnipeg, but from my understanding it is at least a couple years wait to be seen. Does anyone have any experience with going out of province to have their surgery done somewhere with a shorter wait? Is this covered by manitoba health?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
