I buy mine at costco, the wellesse brand and take a tbsp twice a day.  There are 2 1 liter bottles for about 17$ for the 2.  If you need I can pick up next time I am there.  kj

I take the liquid calcium (Wellesse) 1000 mcg per teaspoon so I take  (2 of these twice a day) or 2000 mcg twice a day. I actually found some on sale at Rexall and I stocked up.

Just take it slow. Slow and slow and slow! For my first week I wasn't able to get enough protein and probably not for my second and third week either. Just keep hydrated. I am 8.5 months post op and had surgery on May 13, 2013. I am now able to eat most foods but the other night I had onions which I have had and they didn't go down well. YUK! I don't eat protein shakes or supplements of anything. I get my protein through foods, yogurt, cottage cheese etc. I never from the start have taken any kind of protein drinks or supplements. I am eating 65-70 grams of protein through diet daily and it does slowly get better. Take care and go slow!

I had my RNY, on November 13th and it took me a couple of weeks until I could get all my protein and water in. I used the premier shakes from Costco and still use them for breakfast or days that I can't get my protein in by eating.

Give yourself time to heal and just try to stay hydrated, that is so very important. I personally can't get my water cold enough but I have heard other people say they prefer it room temperature. Before you know it this will be routine and everything will fall into place.

Topic: Calcium Citrate

Hi all,

Curious to know what others in Winnipeg are using for their calcium citrate supplement: which brand, chewable or not, how many tablets per package, best place to buy locally, cost etc.

I hear Costco is good and carries Wellie's(?) brand but I don't have a membership. (not needed for Rx's but I understand needed for over the counter meds)

I go thru this stuff like candy.

Thanks, Mike

You stated you had your RNY on January 7th and posted on the 11th. That's only 4 days post surgery.

If the dietary stages are similar for RNY as for VSG, you should be just starting the Full Fluids diet. Are you able to eat Greek yogurt or drink milk as per your dietician recommendations? Both are high in protein 17-18g per 3/4 cup and 9g per 1 cup respectively.

Give yourself time. Just go slow.
