I run outside but I am a fair weather runner. I will start running outside again once the side walks are basically clear and the weather is around 2 degrees out. I love running in the rain though, I could run forever.  Right now I run at the Y.

I am not a fast runner but I love it and it feels so good. I figure at 58 the fact that I run at all after being 350 lbs is really sweet and I want to run until I am in my 90s maybe all the way to 100 LOL

Have fun at the Running Room, their programs are awesome.

Dr Ponce de Leon Mexico     VSG 4 Jun 12. I lost 57 lbs on my own before having a VSG. This is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Which Running Room do you go to? Alot of my co workers are into running but don't think I am ready yet...

Last October I joined the Running Room - Learn to Run Clinic (I am more of a brisk walker than I am a "runner").  After 10 weeks I am still the caboose girl, meaning I am dead last  BUT I am running! Albeit not quickly.   Now that I am thinking about it ....I think if I was timed I might walk faster than I actually run. LOL!

I signed up for the January clinic and next Monday is Bring-a-pal evening, if any of you are interested in checking out this great program please PM me.  Even if you are unable to run I will gladly walk with you.  :)

I received a call as well.  I know there have been numerous changes to the program and I guess they are following up on anyone they have not seen in a while.  I see them next week. :)

I am from Portage la Prairie. I had surgery at Victoria Hospital which is the program covered by Manitoba Health.

My cir****tances were a bit different as I waiting almost 4 years for surgery because I didn't meet the original critieria for the program.  You will not hear anything from the clini****il it is time for you to attend the information session. Phone calls regarding waiting lists are hardly every returned and trying to talk to someone at the clinic is next to impossible. Once I qualified for the program when they widened the criteria, I still waited a while until I got my invite to the information session.

Are you from Winnipeg I was wondering how the process all works from the time your gp send the referral and he get the letter back stating I am accepted....I had that last June but have not heard anything back....I should say I was choosing for the surgery that is covered by Manitoba health plan...I don't know much more though??

I believe this lady is going to Medicine Hat for surgery so her time frames won't be the same as here in Winnipeg.

Topic: RE: Bariatric Surgery Process in Winnipeg

You probably won't hear anything until you are booked for the information session. My understanding is the wait list is 2 plus years to get to the orientation. Things will go pretty quickly once you get going. You will not be contacted by the surgeon but by the bariatric clinic at the Victoria Hospital. Once you have had your orientation and 2 more sessions at the clinic spaced 2 months apart and you have met their expectations, your name is referred to the surgeon. Having said that some people have had their surgeon's consult before that time period but most often it happens the way I just wrote.
