congrats on your date!

I was o****il the day of surgery.  I was nervous THE DAY OF but I can honestly tell you it was the best decision I have ever made.

Everyone at the clinic is supportive and available to answer any questions or concerns you have.  This forum is helpful - just be careful with some of the information out there in the wonderful world of cyber space - not all of it is accurate.

Wishing you complete success.  :)

I saw the surgeons Monday and have my date less than a month from now. I'm so excited and nervous.

I just found this forum and am reading lots of the local posts as I feel this will help me through the process.

I like the idea of the 2 pound window.  Keeps you on top of where you should be. :)

I have read about hte 5 day pouch test.  I have not tried it though.

I will definitely take the time to watch that episode of W5.

June 3rd.  I run about 3 times a week and walk on other days.  I am looking into a pilates class.    I have reached their goal weight for me.  :)

I am working on personal goals now

I am 20 months out and yes I can eat more, but I feel so empowered by the sleeve and the success I have had that I watch carefully and am not regaining anything more than a two pound window and then I cut down and get the two pounds off. Your sleeve is a tool for life. I hope to keep using mine. Nothing tastes as good as this feels.

Dr Ponce de Leon Mexico     VSG 4 Jun 12. I lost 57 lbs on my own before having a VSG. This is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Topic: W5 Saturday Feb 1 - VSG in obese teens

W5 had an excellent show on Saturday about a program in Toronto that is treating select obese teens with VSG surgery.

I found it interesting that it took this surgeon 3 1/2 hours to perform one VSG operation. Mine was completed by a bariatric surgeon in Tijuana, Mexico in less than an hour.

I'm almost exactly two years out. It's quite easy to regain, unfortunately, because the further out you get, the more you can eat. I was down as low as 165 and as of Sunday I was just over 171. It's not a lot, but it was definitely going too quickly in the wrong direction. I have no problems eating anything I want. (I went into this knowing that I would use the sleeve as a tool to cut down on how much I ate, but I knew I would never be fanatical about my diet.)

This week I'm trying what I did for about four months prior to my weight loss surgery - protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, then regular food for supper and on the weekend. This way my body won't get into that metabolism slump by eating too few calories. There is also the 5-day pouch test "diet"...I forget if someone posted this here or on Facebook. http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/days1_2.html This is even more restrictive than what I'm doing.

What sort of kick-started this for me was watching the W5 (CTV) show on Saturday about teens in a program in Toronto having the vertical sleeve gastrectomy and the struggles the young man was having with bad food choices before and after his surgery.

You can smoosh up fruit like berries and add chia seeds and a few drops of water and leave it overnight in the fridge and you have fresh healthy jam to spread ... the chia gels and binds it all together.

I throw them in oatmeal and yogurt usually.
