Can someone let me know how to find the Facebook group for the manitoba bariatric people?
thanks so much :)
It does make sense to me that people with medical issues would be bumped up sooner but I specifically asked this question to the lady who called me back and she said this wasn't the case. Nothing ever seems very clear - even when you finally get a call back. I talked to the lady whom returned my call for quite awhile and she was quite adamant that it goes by referral date and nothing else. Oh well, still happy for those that get in earlier and can get started on their journey !!!
Congrats Again :)
Wait times vary, accordingly to the " who' what' and why.. Someone *****quires the surgery for medical reasons moves ahead of someone with lesser medical .. If that makes any sense...
Congratulations !!! You must be over the moon!!
i called the other day to the doctors office to ask about wait times again. I was referred in Jan 2013. I was told it would be years. I am so confused by all this . Some people seem to not have to wait as long . I wonder what is different for some ? Maybe different medical issues?
Keep us posted on your progress - I'm very excited for you - and admittedly a little jealous :)
Thanks Mike! I 'm sure your stamina will return as you continue to heal.
I'm trying not to get to wound up about the hair loss as I went through this when my hubby and I did fertility treatments and it stopped then. I wasn't a huge bread eater before so not too worried about not wanting it now. I do have some crackers with my tuna and that's ok.
Congrats Karen. I'm 12 weeks post op and have lost 28lbs since the surgery (VSG not RNY). No hair loss issues so far - keeping fingers crossed - but I make sure I'm getting plenty of protein. Most foods are fine so far though I have developed a dislike for the taste of whole wheat breads, pitas, etc. Rice, pasta, quinoa and couscous are OK
I'm back swimming , my times are good but I don't seem to have the stamina I had prior to the surgery. I'm also weightlifting to build up muscle and I'm lifting more now than before.
I have 54 lbs to go to the dietician's goal weight. I lost 58 lbs before surgery from referral weight. I am down 43lbs from day of surgery and the rest of the weight I lost before my referral.
90lbs is awesome, that's 10lbs a month!
Still trying some new foods but I find the plainer the better for me but I wasn't a person for rich spicy food before surgery. I haven't tried bread and am not missing it at all. Pasta is very filling but rice is ok. Just find that I don't have much of an appetite most days.
Congrats! How much had you lost prior to surgery? Hard to believe! I am 9 months post op and just hitting the 90 pound mark. Feel good! Eating most everything just in completely different amounts! Congrats again! I am nearing he weight they chose for me.
So I am now 14 weeks out from my RNY and today I hit 100lbs lost since I was referred for surgery! I am now down a total of 122 lbs and I feel so wonderful. I so wish I had gotten the surgery years ago but I'm enjoying every minute of my new life. Not too happy about the start of hair loss but I am hoping that is temporary.
When I started at the gym 2 weeks after surgery I could barely do 20 minutes on the treadmill and this week I am doing an hour. It's so wonderful to be able to move and not ache.
If you are sitting on the fence about having the surgery, these are only a few of the great benefits I have experienced in just a short time.
