I'm trying to get into the routine of going first thing in the AM (Downtown Y opens at 6 AM weekdays, 7 AM weekends) but have been having a tough time doing that. Lately its been evenings but as I'm off from work, I can go almost anytime save when I have other commitments.

When do you go?

Welcome to the group. There is a Meet and Greet at Sir William Stephanenson Library on Keewatin near Burrows this Saturday 1- 4 PM. This is a good place to start.

If you're interested I go to the downtown Y and am looking for a workout buddy.

Hello everyone, I am new to this site and looking for information as I have just asked my family doctor to refer me for surgery with the Victoria Hospital Program in Winnipeg, I want to try during my waiting period to lose weight, go to the gym, hopefully find a work-out buddy and some people who can just talk with me and answer my questions and or concerns, I have so much I want to know.......would anyone out there be interests in helping a newbie along the way??

Still not feeling great so won't be venturing far from home yet. It will be at the Meet and Greet on Saturday.

Are we getting together for coffee on this upcoming Wednesday evening? Please let me know. I'd prefer somewhere downtown or in the Village as there's a rally st the Legislature I might be attending.

Keep us posted  :)

I'm so impatient for it all to begin!! I have severe sleep apnea too - no other issues though. I wish  it  was possible for me to do it on my own but I've given up on that after all these years of being obese :(

l'll let you know how quick it is... lol Some are waiting a year, in order to make sure they pass all the qualifications for the surgery. But myself, l require it for medical reasons, lm type 2 diabetic, have sever sleep apnea and use a cpap machine, and the weight of my abdomen is causing me undue tummy issues. And id have those issues taken out but they cant because my abdomen is too heavy. Hoping that these things push me forward and i dont have to wait very long.. lm weighing in at 283 @ 5'4in.. and most is in my tummy area.. :(

Ah - this makes more sense then TamTamTee. I thought you were talking about Manitoba. Interesting that Ontario is so much quicker than MB. Is it covered by OHIP there too?
