I would like to go to the M&G. I just need to know where and if it's wheelchair accessible.
We had a small but wonderful get together last night. Thanks everyone who showed up it was wonderful seeing you all. And thank you for bringing munchies. You guys are amazing. Hugs all!
May 19th 2014, I had my VSG surgery in Tijuana at MI hospital by Dr. Ramirez. I don't know where to start. The entire experience was beyond wonderful. Everyone from the drivers that take you back and forth, to the hotel and hospital staff, were professional, friendly, and treated you with more kindness and compassion than anywhere else. Dr. Ramirez took the time to visit me, relieve me of my fears, answer any questions, and just re-assure me that I was in good hands, and that everything would be fine. Afterwards, I saw him at least 2 times, and on both occasions, he took the time and did not once make you feel like he had somewhere else to rush off to. When he is taking care of you, you almost feel like you are his only patient. Exactly how it should feel. I won't lie, I do have some pain, and unfortunately I reacted to cloth adhesive strips they use to secure the gauze. I did not react to it until my shower...water and that adhesive reacted like acid...my poor tummy has some pretty nasty burns. But that was not anyone's fault. I suggest ladies and fellows too...do a self test with cloth adhesive..stick a small piece to the inside of your arm..wait overnight..then run water on it the next morning. I really suggest doing this, because your entire stomach will be covered with this adhesive..and it does NOT feel good if you react to it.
The day we came back to the hotel, we were offered a driving tour of Tijuana, and a stop to do some tourist shopping if we wanted. It was wonderful!! Our driver was funny, but also as caring as a shepherd with a flock of sheep...he had his eyes on us every second making sure that he knew where we were at all times.
I am going to digress a bit here. The tour is open for patients and their support person that comes with them. However...please make sure you support person is considerate of the patients. Buying food to take along that smells sooo wonderful, is nothing short of cruel to the patients who can just barely start sipping water...so please..be kind...no food! lol.
Every part of this journey for me, has been fantastic. I simply cannot believe how well I was taken care of.
today is my last day in Tijuana, I fly home to Manitoba Canada tomorrow morning. I am leaving here feeling well rested, well on my way to recovery, and confident that I can make this a huge success for myself.
If you are considering Tijuana for your surgery, you cannot go wrong with Dr Ramirez. You really can't.
Hi Lorna
Thanks for organizing it again, I will bring some munchies
See you tonight
Alvina
Some people have had to go to the sleep clinic for a study before surgery, it really is dependant on your health issues. Everyone gets blood work etc before surgery. I got my papers during my clinic visits with nurse.
I will be there and so will Jeanette...kj
